My bro just asked me what I thought was the most "advanced" indie game. I got to thinking, what is the mos complex (and good) indie game out there. Obviously most are 2D, so I am trying to think of a good 3D indie game. Got any ideas?

Define advanced, do you mean whether it requires skill to play or technologically or gameplay mechanics? My bro just asked me what I thought was the most "advanced" indie game. For raw complexity, E.Y.E Divine Cybermancy
in terms of 'advanced' as in as good as a full non-indie title, Amnesia
Visually? Probably Natural Selection 2, they created a entire engine for the game which prioritises atmospheric and lighting effects among other things. Here's some screenshots I took of an outdated beta build.

Not bad. I think Serious Sam 3 has better visuals though.
Wow! This is now on my radar... when I heard of someone mention Natural Selection 2 on this forum, I didn't think anything of it. Very promising! Thanks! :DVisually? Complexity, Eschalon Book series, great RPG's wich reminded me of the Infinity Engine games, highly recommend them!
Oh and you can play the other games from that developer, like Avernum and Geneforge, they are awesome too!
Heres a pic of Eschalon Book I
Now here's a pic of Eschalon Book II
This, Trine 2 is gorgeous, gameplay is great too, just like Trine 1.I would have to say Trine 2 for visuals. The game is stunning and the level when you get to the castle and there is a storm with heavy rain is simply mind blowing!
Raxzor
The Eschalon games are definately great games however I thought they were developed by 'Basilisk games' whilst Avernum and Geneforge, etc were developed by 'Spiderweb Software'. In any case both devs are fantastic. Sorry to get off topic.
In response to theOP I'd say E.Y.E is definately up there!

Right you are, my bad, i bought them all at the same time so i tought they were all made by the same developer! :P
Loved them all, but i still have to try Avadon, probably will when more games are released on that series, can't wait! :D
[QUOTE="Elann2008"]Gotta try the Eschalon Book game. Looks good. ArchDemon123
I highly recommend it! ;)
I recommend both Eschalon games as well. They are pretty good.Avadon: The Black Fortress is good, but it's way less complex than Eschalon. At least the writting in that game is fantastic. I also recommend Knights of the Chalice. This game has Ultima VI's visuals and a combat system heavily inspired by D&D.
Agreed. I would also like to throw in Amnesia and Hard Reset. The upcoming Hawken looks brilliant as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zm7gEDhrPfk&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL[QUOTE="Raxzor"]

G-Lord
I second E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy. Reminds me a lot pf the first Deus Ex with touchs of Silent shock - all using the HL2 Source engine. Copies some great ideas, like in research you allocate scientists to get the job done, more scientists, the quciker but more expensive the reasearch is - like X-Com! It has Augmentations, PSI, lots of great weapons and meaty firepower! Well worth a look, despite Gamespot notgiving it any coverage!
How does it cheat because they bought the HL2 engine rights to use? Does this mean Vampire: Bloodlines is a cheat? What about System Shock 2 for using the Thief engine? Is every game that uses the Unreal engine a "cheat" too?! Funny how gamers and the media pick on the smaller developers in a way they don't the big guys!EYE Divine Cybermancy but it sort of cheats cause it uses the HL2 engine.

(Checking out Natural Selection 2 too)
I also will 4th, 5th or 6th EYE: DC and Hard Reset. It took me about 2 play throughs to understand what EYE was offering 3 to fully understand and have some sweet unlocks. Beat the game 3 more times after that for a total of 130 hours and every minute was a blast. It should be pretty cheap now too. There is also talk of some free DLC on the way! :D
