I'm finally going to get a dual analog controller for my computer. Which one is good? I'm looking at getting an xbox 360 controller right now. I've been reading reviews on amazon and a lot of people complain about the durability of the logitech ones. Is the 360 one the way to go if I want one that will last a while? Rumble is optional.
360 controller is your best choice,You can do either wired or wireless now. I read somewhere that some clever guy actually created drivers for the 360 controller to actually use the rumble feature,But it also has to depend on the game.
The xbox360 controller is a great choice, I have one, however the drivers are horrible. For one there is only Xinput rumble support (API for PC/Xbox360 cross platform programming) and not Dinput rumble (DirectX) which majority of games use (And why they couldn't just have both is beyond me...). Also another really bad thing about the drivers is that the triggers buttons are mapped to a single axis that sits in the middle at rest. It goes to 0 when you push one trigger and goes to 100 when you push the other trigger, so when you push both... guess what happens... it goes to the middle again so it's like your not pushing them at all. Not good for racing games which require good breaking and accelerating, or games that require both to be pressed simultaneously.
The drivers refered to are the XBCD drivers, they're a dream come true to making this the best PC gamepad. They allow you to map any button as just a button, a POV, or an axis, so you can map those triggers to seperate axis and get them to work right. They also add Dinput rumble support, making all your force feedback games compatible. Make sure you google XBCD 360 drivers, the original XBCD drivers were for original xbox controllers using an adaptoid. There is a single installer someone compiled out there. If anyone needs help getting there hands on these drivers just drop me a PM, I'd be happy to help :).
