Most overwhelming # of enemies?

Been playing Witcher 2, and i go into a cave. Im like "This is going to be an easy quest, just go in, get the stuff, and go back out" But right after i said that, i jumped off the step and over 20 nekkers dig up from the ground. I was scared, so i just equipped quen and went in. I died within seconds. After a few more tries i decided to use traps and bombs, and it eventually worked. So guys, whats the most overwhelming # of enemies you have ever fought at once? (name the game too)

serious sam TSE.. final level near the veyr end abut 1000 enemies spawn and you have to kill them all to proceed.. nevermind do it within a meteor shower.. yeah real safe :roll:

StarCraft I- When I got rushed by zerg. II kinda gave you the abilty to recover from a zergling rush

Painkiller- Oh Gawd! Sometimes you just get bumrushed... And they just keep coming and coming, with no health in slight. You will be herding a group and get a group spawned infront of you.

Call of Duty 1-4 on the hardest mode.

Resident Evil 5- When you start out on a hard difficulty your first play through.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R Series- Sometimes it's just so hard, and it's hard to pull something out of your ass.

L4D 1&2- for the reason above. You don't have special powers, the enemies don't take cover and shoot from a distance.

Contra- Need I say more?

Demons Souls- Maybe the hardest game I've played since I started playing on the NES when I was 7.. Five enemies can prove to be too hard.

In Company of Heroes the AI tends to pump out outrageous numbers of enemy soldiers on higher difficulties. Playing with a friend, we set up numerous machinegun nests, AT guns, motors, etc., at a choke point and the computer opponents tried their best to funnel hundreds of soldiers through that gap. The AI sent wave after wave against our defenses for what seemed like forever. After the AI takesa beating it tends to take a beak for a while.

yeh nothing beats that final part. never seen so many enemies at one time.

Starcraft 2 - i love the Survival Mission

Dead Rising 2 - there are over 10000+ enemies in the game :shock:

When I read the title, I had a feeling you were gonna talk about the witcher 2 and this quest in particular! Maybe because I've been playing the witcher 2 and I too got my azz kicked by this quest. I didn't even have a silver sword when I started this quest, so it took me about 2 hours just to kill the bastards.

Beat Hazard. There are times where there are so many things on the screen, I dunno where I am anymore :D

Lets get serious.

The first thing that comes to mind is the Starcraft II mission "In Utter Darkness." Either that or "All-in".

I'll second Serious Sam, but yeah The Witcher 2 definately seems a bit overwhelming....even 5 nekkers gives me trouble lol.

Shogun 2 can get pretty ridiculous

Serious Sam had a ridiculous amount of enemies, also UT04 with no AI cap.

Probably for me the original Empire Earth. You get a couple AI enemies who build huge bases, no unit cap and they just keep coming. The only way I could avoid dying super fast was to play with islands which I would surround with towers.

The orphanage place in painkiller.

Edit: Actually Warcraft 3 with no unit caps and instant spawn meant the enemy would spam your butt.

Geometry Wars, without a doubt.

Starcraft 1 & 2 could get hectic on defense missions. Also Doom 2 has ridiculous amount of enemies.
