I'm looking to get a new online game. Probably a FPS of some kind. I have TF2 and COD4 already.

What are the top 5 or 10 most played online games these days?

Battlefield 2 is still highly active, especially with the new patch that came out few days ago.

Im the same in terms of deciding on getting a game according to player base.

Warcraft 3 still has about 80,000 People

CSS has about 100,000

Call of Duty World at War has about 30,000

BF 2142 has about: 8,000

Dawn of War 2 has about: 5,000

Empire Total War, oddly, has about: 12,000

Company of Heroes has about: 10,000

Guild Wars has about 8,000

BF 2 has about: 20,000

Left4Dead has about: 18,000

Day of Defeat Source: 8,000

World of Warcraft: 450,000

he neglected CoD4 and (despite it being a nubs game (plz dont attack me for bringing it up)) gears of war (prays to god knowing all his warning was in vein), possibly giving an honorable mention to killing floor while were here.

we are i could really throw the book at you if you like.. believe me there tons of games you missed that you might bite yourself for finding out they have large populations lineage 1 & 2 for example have enough accounts active back in 08/09 to = 2/3 of south korea.. and thats alot of ppl man lain and simple. ff11 despite being a game for those afraid of mmo's who cuddle structure and rulebooks with +1 masterwork fighting fists has a meager 1 mill accounts spanning its servers.

I TRIED DAMN IT. Those are the only numbers I could find according to Xfire and Steam. lol give me a break. Where else do they have game population stats?Gamesterpheonix

WoW have more than 9 million subscribers. Which also is the amount of people in my country. Pretty insane..

Going with Xfire:

• WoW - 1,332,000
• CoD4 - 575,000
• CoD2 - 259,000
• BF2 - 108,000
• CS:S - 94,000

These are minutes played today. But it does give an idea of what the most played games are in general.

I you want something fresh try soldat http://www.soldat.pl/en/(not alot of payers 500+ maybe, but guaranteed of games as there are always people playing). If not, go with a shooter, WoW is too expensive to be bortherd with imo. The list other people have given do show which games are played most, but what does that really give you? Nothing except numbers, find something fun, with a good few people(over 5000 at least), make yourself known, and it will be very enjoyable.
