Probably modern warfare 2. FPS and RTS are the biggest mainstream groups.
And this being a big FPS title in the CoD series, well...

Personally Dragon age is number one.

Screw the fall. Dragon Age is the release of the year. I've been looking forward to this for almost 3 years!

Obvisously, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be the most successful. Personally, I'd only buy a copy so I could destroy it. Dragon Age: Origins and Borderlands will be the best this fall, just not most successful.

most successful yes but maybe not the "best". I'm getting cod6, i think it looks awesome, but i think there's better games on that list.. but in terms of sales.. cod6 forsure.

I didn't find it that good. I like cinematic stories, just, this one wasn't that great, IMO. And I hated the online. Best online game is Team Fortress 2.

well i like the action, hey there are also good russians, i dont know the whole British sas new member in the team is the only one that survives in the end after that awesome ending... and the nuke in raq that kills everyone.. or captain price memories on chernobyl, i mean you guys didnt find those amazing?

No. I guess we're just picky. Or not. thought The Darkness was a better cinematic game. It was a phenominal shooter.

sigh no pc, well i dont think it was that cinematic it was one guy story going to hell and killing everyone with snakes....and the ending sucked, but seriously aiming was terrible...still good but not quite as i have hoped. Well cod 1 had good levels and story, cod 2 had neither, and cod 4 had only good story.dakan45

I'm not saying CoD 4 had a bad story, just not a good one. I think games need to have more cinematic moments in them, like in Aliens when Ripley opens the hatch when the Alien Queen is trying to pull her down. Great moment.

On the subject of game stories, why do we always have to play as American/British? Can't we play as an African Peace Keeper, and Australian SAS? Or even just the South Asian rebels? fudgeblood

Of new games though, probably Modern Warfare 2, because apparently people never get tired of aiming crosshairs. Actually, I guess it's entirely possible that the Sims 3 expansion will outsell it, but I don't even have any idea how well The Sims 3 has sold so far. I'm guessing probably pretty damn well.

The game I'm looking forward to most that is coming out this year is probably Champions Online, although I'm going to wait until some reviews are in before I plunge into that. Tropico 3 should hopefully be pretty good, but I really haven't heard much about it. I just hope they find some ways to make it feel different without making it suck. I'm sure that even if it's a great and critically acclaimed game that hardly anyone will pay any attention to it anyway.

edit: Well, I just looked it up and of course The Sims 3 sold ridiculously well, so I won't be surprised if the expansion ends up being the big winner.
