H = Lower end Chipset. Z = Higher End Chipset.

They will take your CPU but that doesn't mean quality.

H series boards are Micro ATX. Less slots, so 90% of the time no option for SLi/XFIRE.

With H series you cannot fully utilize an unlocked processor.

A long with less slots, they usually have less ports no 5.1 onboard surround sound.

Less fancy features altogether.

Unless you are on a very tight budget and want a gaming PC, you should always get a Z68/Z77 board.

also the p/h boards dont have any onboard graphics. (atleast one of them doesnt anyway).

even if your getting a dedicated graphics card. you still want onboard graphics incase you ever have problems with the card so you can still use your pc.

also p and h are getting old. i doubt you can find any which support sata 3 or 2133 ram etc. i wouldnt buy a board which didnt support sata 3

u are misinformed seercirra : the intel motherboard now doesn't feautre onboard gpu ever it all in the cpu known as HD3000 & HD4000 (Ivy Bridge) However Z67 and Z77 Does have Quick Sync Feature Which use the Intel Built in GPU found into any Processor of Intel to make Compressing IE A 720P Video to a Iphone 4 in about 4-5 minute versus 22 minute (Gpu only) or so it say they have a patented design .

Now Second Thing Seerica : all P67 I know does have SATA III ofc only 2-4 Is not alot while a Z67 is likely alway have 4 : and a Z77 4-6 But the odd you are to plug more then 4 Device that comply with SATA III (6Gb/s) Are low

While Z77 Feature Lucid Virtu MVP which is suposse to give a Very Light Boost FPS like 1-4FPS in some game while Boosting Score for 3DMARK Vantage & 2011 this is not a critera to take as some game are unstable with Lucid MVP enabled

Both an Z77 / P67 Will Support ur CPU however Z77 Will have more efficient power saving feature and thunder bolt port if you have plan to use it : it also feature more SATA III (6Gb/s) & more USB 3.0 usually then Z67

Also Search for a CPU cooler if ur buying a i5 2500K or i5 3570K like Havik 120 or Less Expensive Coolermaster Hyper 212+ and overclock in 2 minute of clicking stuff it will become 4.3Ghz + CPU usually 4.5Ghz and all that with stable temp and an mega boost of FPS for majority of game that said

If you any other Question I might have Accurate Answer to them

The P boards dont have integrated. The H boards just signifies lower end boards 6x being older, 77 being newer which had integrated to boot, but no overclocking. Though the TC may very well get the H boards since his cpu can't overclock anyway, but GET the 77 boards since they boot faster and have some of the newer nick nack features.

z77 are obviously the best boards though.

I believe my older p67 has 2 sata 3 slots anyway.

It is important to note that the z77 chipset can be put into micro atx boards.. I for instance just recently purchased the Asus p8z77-m Pro, a microatx board.

it would have been wise if he return the cpu if not open yet and pick the i5 2500K .. since he bough a cpu but no motherboard because the i5 2400 can't overclock more then like +200mhz From FSB + 33X MT however with a i5 2500K you unlock multiplier so you pass from 33x 100mhz to 45x 100mhz if you see i'm trying to explain topic Creator ?

However unlocking MT Increase Heat considerable and stability past a certain point : so the basic unlocking is 42-45x the Maximal 47-49x

but if you are not interest into i5 2500K ? then ur chance to be also interested into Crossfire / SLI video card Are close to None

Sli / Crossfire is a Derivate for Paralell GPU which mean Two of the same Card Series : it doesn't have to be the same company just the same GPU Unit ie TWO GTX 560 TI or TWO GTX 660 : you require a bigger power-supply also IE 650-750W Are recommend

Z77 have M-ATX : Z67 have M-ATX : P67 Have M-ATX : H67 HAVE M-ATX : H67 have ATX (Rare) IT stand for MICRO ATX which his Slimmer Motherboard : Cost less to produce : fit in smaller case : take less place in the room that about it

if you are wanting to get more more then 6 HDD / more then 2 PCI / PCI-E 1X powered Add-on IE : Soundcard and Two GPU then ur looking for a Z67 / Z77 usually that support it In ATX Factor if not you are better with M-ATX it cost less : and it overclock as good with some Series there more expensive model ie : Asus Rampage Gene (M-ATX) but there only advatange is SLI / Crossfire + Higher overclock-ability when going pass 4.5Ghz for i5 2500k / i7 2600K

Thanks for all the help.

I have actually bought the cpu already and have it in a machine that is running fine, but I have some issues with the SATA ports on the board. On top of one of them being broken, the all point up from the board.

So I am looking to replace the MOBO with one that has the SATA ports pointing out the side of the board and obvioulsy with them all working.

I have 1 1TB HD and 3 SSDs (2x128 and 1x64)

I get passed down components a lot, but I wanted to choose and buy my own MOBO.

Thanks
