asus P5gz-MX LGA775 motherboard(this maybe the cause?incompatibility??,its only ddr2 i guess,but my 8800gt is 512mb ddr3
APACER igb DDR2 PC5300/667 MEMORY
SEAGATE 250gb SATA 8mb 7200RPM- BARRACUDA HARD DISK DRIVE
ASUS EN7300LE 128mb PCI-E(this is my old card that came with the package)
ASUS 18x black w/ lightscribe- internal dvd writer
LOGITECH keyboard
MAG 22" LCD MONITOR
CREATIVE BLACK 5.1 speakers w/sub
ASUS TA-551 BLACK SILVER ATX MEDIUM- TOWER w/ 4 bay TRUE 350W PS(another problem??)
Yes, that's a PCI-e motherboard, so the 8800GT should work fine with it.
Are you talking about onboard video versus the ports on your graphics card? If that's the case, you may need to disable your onboard video in your BIOS, although most modern motherboards are supposed to auto-detect when a discreet graphics card is installed and disable the onboard video automatically. I'd also make sure you have a 6-pin power connector hooked up to the 8800GT if you didn't do that. Last but not least, I'd suspect your power supply or a dead graphics card.
Could you please use the proper terminology, you're confusing the hell out of me.
You should have two "sets" of monitor connections right now. Two on your 8800GT that you just bought, and one blue VGA connector for your onboard video chipset. The connection on your motherboard is not "normal", it's just "onboard video". The other two connectors are the ones for your graphics card.
So, your problem is that you can't get any video out from your 8800GT, correct? Have you tried both DVI connectors? Are you sure that if you're using a DVI-VGA connector for your monitor that the adapter itself is working? Are you sure the 8800GT is fully seated into the graphics slot and plugged in to your power supply? Are you sure the onboard video is disabled in the BIOS?
Answer my questions, and I can help you. Keep reposting your original problem, and nobody's going to be able to figure this out without physically being present at your house.
someone here says maybe my mobo is not compatible with my card because its only ddr2 supported?and my card is ddr3?quincy_00
No, VRAM has nothing to do with what your motherboard supports. A graphics card could use bleeding DDR9 and it would still work on a DDR type motherboard as long as the graphics slot was compatible.
And how do you know the DVI-VGA adapter is working fine? Did you test it on another DVI output device?
Re-seat the video card. Make sure the video card is firmly connected to a dedicated power supply cord (not shared with other devices like HD's).Gog
Hey guys, not quincy, is that mobo PCI-E 2.0? If not his graphics card might not work because of that?
To quincy, make sure you get rid of your old drivers from the 7300. So, put in your 8800GT, then remove the older drivers, and install the new ones. The 8800GT has two white ports, plug the white to the white into your monitor, it should work. Unless your mobo doesn't support PCI-E 2.0.
[EDIT] Just as I thought your motherboard is not a PCI-E 2.0. Who is the manufacturer of your video card? I'm pretty sure that all new 8800GT's are PCI-E 2.0. If that is the case you have to return that card, for a normal PCI-E.
So tell me your video card manufacturer.
I was working with a few of these p5gz-mx boards. tried several video cards with no luck... turns out there are 5 jumpers above the pcie slot you must all move over to the right. refer to page 1-24 in the lousy manual. simply amazing asus would revert to this non automatic crap from back in the day.. 945gz chipset/asus ftl. i guess someone on the design team missed configuring their 486
for clarification of the other posts. the ddr type on the video card has nothing to do with compatiblity of ram on the mainboard. and for all intents and purposes pci-e 2.0 cards are backwards compatible with older pci-e and will only suffer bandwidth.
