motherboard suggestion plz?

im looking for a solid motherboard (780i or X38 prefered) that supports 1333FSB (C2Duo E8400), DDR2 1066, and PCI-E 2.0. Im not really into overclocking so that is not a big worry, and i dont plan on doing SLI anytime soon, but would like the option if possible (i understand that X38 motherboards are crossfire). thanks!

These 2 would be great choices, I know it says DDR2 800 on the 780i board but it does support 1066 ram.

which do you think is the better board? im leaning toward the x38 board because it is cheaper and i have heard good things about x38. plus i dont even plan on doing SLI, let alone TRI SLI.Roland123_basic

If you don't plan on doing SLI, I'd say definately go for the x38 mobo, it's a great board for the price.

are the video corruption issues with the 780i motherboards really as big of a deal as people seem to make it sound? there are a thousand posts on evga's website about this issue....Roland123_basic

I stay away from nvidia chipset mobos ever since my NF4 board, which was the cause of many issues I had with my old machine.

I've seen alot of people here with 780i boards, hopefully someone can shed some light.

only thing is, i was actually thinking about it and decided i may actually go SLI with 2 8800GTs... that really limits my options. any recommendations for that?

I was recomended this x38 motherboard. I haven't used it yet, so I can't tell you much about it though.

I have a 780i, and have enough problems with it. I get the problem with watching video online, crashes my PC. Also I get a BSOD about half the time I open up the DVD drive. I read somewhere it is picky about SATA optical drives, so I think I'm gonna get me an IDE burner for it.

This is the third Nvidia chipset board I have had, and I have had problems with every single one. This is probably the least amount of problems though.
