True that. from what iv seen newer hard drives still max out at around 100MB/Sec i havent seen any get faster than that really. The only thing i could think of that would take advantage of that would be SSD's but still even then they are not breaking the Sata 1 speed
It might make a slight difference with SSDs, but then I doubt SSDs have a sustained transfer capability of 300MB/sec. Still a faster interface can probably be seen with benchmarks, but a user would not notice it, even if you go down to sata 1, only difference really would be the cache transfer which works at interface speed. I def. wouldn't stree about a board not having sata 3, you could always upgrade to that with an add on card as long as you have a pcie x4 or x8 slot.
