I just heard about this game and it sounds AWESOME!!!!

I'm definately going to give it a "Buy".

So far all the customer reviews of the "Beta" have been extremely Positive and High and there seems to be a huge Mod base (really Mod friendly game from what I've heard) with tons of different Mods and some really nice graphical Mods (adds HDR etc...).

I'm pumped!!!!!!!

Who else is looking forward to this one?

I've bought the beta version but I'll re-buy it because it's so damn good, I wanna support the devs and I want to have a physical copy. So yeah, I'm really excited. :D

But I wanna have the physical copy of it. :P I don't mind buying it twice, since I paid only like 20 € for the beta.

EVERYONE WHO LIKES MEDIEVAL FIGHTING GAMES OR RPGS SHOULD LOOK NO FURTHER THAN MOUNT AND BLADE.

seriously its so friggin addicting and fun. graphics arent horrible, better animations in this retail release and the modding community is excellent. its pretty deep too. overall an incredibly impressive acomplishment from a team of two ppl.

i didn't pay attention to this title but after some research....wow....it looks to be one hell of a game. but i've got some question, hopefully you guys can answer them --

1. so, for the guys that have been playing the beta...exactly how good is this game? i'm especially interested in npc interaction, deep and rewarding combat, interesting quests, etc. i usually don't put much stock in sand box mechanics due to its inability to generate an integral atmosphere. does MnB have this problem?

2. if i'm not mistaken, MnB is developed by quite a small team. so are we looking at a half-hearted indie project that takes quite a bit of acquired taste to like, or a full-fledged product that is professionally made and most importantly stable?

3. is this game anything like Oblivion, which i absolutely detest? i know it's quite moddable, to begin with....

thanks for your time, guys....hopefully this is turning out to be a great game. :)

you... will probably hate the game? :\ it's made by two people IIRC.. so the big-budget gloss factor is really low. animations are kind of clunky, the graphics are from 2002, very basic UI and NPC interaction. interesting quests are pretty much nil, there's not much story or plot or anything. the world's sort of a more realistic open-world with no level scaling - you're free to pick sides and get your ass kicked by roving marauders from day 1. the combat is amazing.. it's sort of like what would have happened if morrowind/oblivion's combat was done right. it takes into account the direction you swing vs. the direction they parry (unless they have a shield, then just blocking is enough but shields have limited durability), and also takes into account the momentum of both of you at the time of impact (so being on a horse = PAIN to those on the receiving end). it's a lot more involved than the usual fare. so.. yeah, it's very much an indie product. you can tell they don't have a big budget. it's definitely not half-hearted though, not by any means.

From what I've heard and read I think you will really love this game.

Especially since you detest OBLIVION, like me. :)

Besides, look at all the player reviews who have been playing the "Beta"...

Everyone who's played it has flipped out over this game. THat's goota be a really good sign.

Plus, with the huge mod community, thanks to the long beta run, the possibilities of this games improvement and customization are endless...

I tried the BETA, and I loved it, but the fighting system quickly got me annoyed =p I'm fine with fighting from horseback, alone, against 6 random thieves, but the second I have an "army" with me, Im doomed xD I hope they fix the aim and such, because I really want this game!

Great game for the combat and openness of the game world. Graphics blow but in my book gameplay is worth at least twice the visual candy aspect and the combat mechanics are sweet. Thanks for the heads up on the game...it's sad that alot of the fun games I've played lately were almost no-shows on gamespot.

I felt the same way until I got my first lance, just line them up and mow them down...or line up an enemy one of your mercs has occupied and mow them down from behind. I've planted 3 in one charge without too much trouble. I know what you're saying though...once I had a few mercs following me it was harder then solo for abit. Just watch your troops (and get them on horses), Flank or distract, it's a change since it's not all up to your character now and the enemy moves differently now that you're not the only target.

*edit, spelling

It just goes to show that a game doesn't have to have "Crysis" Graphics to be good.

I'm getting tired of games based on little more than good graphics alone and am really looking forward to sinking my teeth in this one.

Besides if I ever get tired of the stock graphics, I saw that "Graphics Enhancement" Mod for this game that adds HDR lighting and others enhancements and it looks really nice.

Here is a comparison pic, the first is with Tuk's Settings and Bloom, second is not native, ignore the third, it got like 3 graphic packs at once making it glitch and look to dark.

Considering the amount of time most people use on it it's more than worth it.

I think it's definitely worth $40, though granted i bought it for 25 in beta stages.

I'll be honest with you, if you liked the demo, then i can promise you that you'll be playing it for hours and hours and hours.

I've already played this game longer than for example bioshock and crysis combined.

Straight from the Manual Introduction...

In Mount& Blade, you play as an adventurer in the medieval land of Calradia, a fictional land devoid of magic and high fantasy, instead bearing many similarities to our world in the Middle Ages. The game offers you a great deal of freedom in this world. You may roam around the map visiting towns and villages, trading, pursuing various quests, taking part in tournaments, or trying out a myriad of other activities. You will soon notice that the world itself is dynamic. Caravans travel between towns, sometimes being waylaid by bandits; villagers take their goods to markets; armies assemble to move across the land, besieging towns or castles and raiding settlements. Instead of giving you a fixed path to follow, Mount & Blade lets you freely adventure in this world. In time, you will be well known in many places as you make friends and enemies with other characters, which in turn will allow you to affect events in profound ways. You don't need to remain a penniless adventurer, either. You may obtain great wealth and power, become one of the trusted vassals of a king; conquer and own villages, castles and towns; command armies, and

I- 5 -

if you like, even lead rebellions and replace kings with other claim holders. Mount & Blade does not give you objectives or a fixed storyline; however, it does offer you a rich and interesting setting in which to determine your own objectives while creating and living your own story.

Sounds Great sooo Far....

For those that want to DownLoad the game it's availible now for only $29.00.

I DL'ed it and so far it's the best $29.00 I've ever spent on a game. :D

The retail release (Bestbuy/Gamestop etc...) has been delayed until 9/30... but will be availible for $39.00 with harddisk, map and a manual.

The former. I think it was a husband and wife project for quite awhile too. Later on a third person joined.

the retail version of the game is already out (check Amazon.com and other oline stores), and older mods keep updating (graphical enhacement to v2.5 and many others) and new mods forthcoming.

I'm an arcane guy, but this no-magic Combat Sim/RPG is sickenly good.

yeah, i still say this is the best combat system for this kind of game. it strikes a great balance between stats/numbers and movement/twitch skills. Fighting on foot (on harder difficulties) is a nice challenge in trying to find an opening in their defenses while protecting your own, and fighting from horseback is wtfownage, just as it should be. when you're riding past someone and time a swing just right to hit them, you KNOW it's going to hurt. If Oblivion's combat worked more like this, oh my god it'd be amazing.
