So Mount and Blade is on sale. To be honest I'm not sure what kind of game it is. Steam says it's an RPG, but according to the IGN review it's a strategy/rpg/action hybrid. It's $5 for the orginial or $12 for the complete pack and I would probably go with the complete based on if you guys (and gals?) recommend it.

I'd play the Warband demo before you start shelling out money for it.

Warband pretty much replaces the original. With Fire and Sword adds guns and formations to the original. Warband is really all you need.

I bought the entire collection a while back and regretted it. I really didn't like it all that much - game was much too rough around the edges for me.

Warband is definately the best of the three. Although it does look dated compared with the Crysis and MWs out there, I have had hours of fun with it. Plenty of mods out there to give the game a whole new twist. The original Mount and Blade has perhaps a better fighting mechanism, although I had no problem with the Warband one. Fire and sword is a step back unfortunately, fun to see lines of your men firing their muskets, but it can't beat rushing in full gallop with your sword aloft and coming out victorious.
