Heya. Not sure if this was the correct forum to post this so I apologize in advance. Anyway. I've recently installed a 70 gig ssd and it's my C:/ and I also have a 2 tb hd that is E:/. I have just installed Windows 7 on the ssd and it left me with just a few gigs to spare so obviously I want to install pretty much everything else I find myself downloading onto my E drive... is it safe to drag and drop files from my C drive to my E drive (just a couple things that didn't give me the option to tell it where to install)... will the program still work properly? I've tried to read up on this, something about harddrives tend to share information but the sites I've come across keep opening up other windows to sign up for newsletters -.- so thought I'd ask you guys. Thanks, any help is appreciated.

I do it all the time with my C: and D: drives, except I don't have an SSD. As long as the program(s) are still installed to your PC (hit control panel > add/remove program list), and see for yourself. The only thing you will have to re-do are desktop icons (if you use them). You could test it yourself with an application (small file sized app) and it will continue to work like normal. Just avoid touching the important files.

Okay I should probably go more in depth with what I'm trying to do and the message I'm getting. I'm trying to move my anti virus (VIPRE) from C: to E: but when I drag and drop from C: to E: it says it's in use and clicking try again doesn't change it.

Sorry the dragging and dropping worked fine it's deleting the same file from the C: that is giving me the message that the file is open in another program and yes I've closed the program so I'm stumped as to why it's saying it is open.

It's probably still open, or a file that is part of it is still being used somewhere. With the anti-virus, just uninstall and reinstall again on the E: hard drive.

That's the tricky part, with this program it just asks for a cd key then gives you the installer with no chance of giving it a directory path XD. But that is not really the issue it's this ssd saying I have only 29.7 gig free when it's a 64gb. I know windows 7 takes up some space but I think only like 10 gigs for that, right? XD

Also the initial Win 7 updates which includes over 100 updates if I remember correctly. I just did a fresh install myself several days ago. It's rare that a program gives you no path choice. I know there are a few out there that I use myself, but simply clicking on "custom install" will allow you to select the directory after you hit next.

Yea but it still shouldn't be showing only 29 gig free space out of a 64 gig right? Regardless going to call the manufacturer later today and see what's up.
