Which one is better? I'm asking for a friend who is trying to decide on one.

If he wants to game then he should really get a desktop, if he must have a laptop though then it's pointless getting a macbook as even though he could run games on it with boot camp he'll just be overpaying for it

Even though there are some games that MAC's can run without boot camping to Windows like CoD:4 it's probably a bad idea to buy a MAC for gaming. The system spec's of the macbook, even the new and imporved one, are a bit low to do any heavy graphics processing.

I agree with markop. I would go with a desktop if your friend wants to do any kind of gaming. Laptops struggle to keep up with desktops that are half the price do to size, power, and heat problems.
