I really dont like shooters, only a very few selected ones so I will recommend on RPG

Planetscape Torment

Baldurs Gate 1

Baldurs Gate 2

Those three alone have enough gameplay value to hold you up for a loooong time, they are also ultimate classics every RPG fan should play once, even thoug they are "old" they didnt age a bit

The Orange Box
STALKER
Battlefield 2
Battlefield 2142
Morrowind
Oblivion

I'd also recommend Crysis and Bioshock, but I honestly wouldn't spend more than $30-$40 for these two

What a lot of people fail to mention when they suggest RPGs is that Fallout and Fallout 2 are sortof turn based.

I'd heard a lot of good things about them, but when I tried to play it was absolutely terrible.

Neverwinter Nights is a great RPG, but the only problem is it takes forever and there isn't much reward (low level cap, levelling takes ages...).

Robbie wins the thread.

The only game I would add to his list is Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast (StarWars FPS/TPS with great melee combat and force powers).

I was hoping to add something to this thread, but Damn, Robbie... Anyway, if you like FPS, The Orange Box is a must. Don't think twice about it.

I enjoy first person shooters and enjoy a good RPG. What are must get for PC?NoteYouMustBeAt

FPS:

Doom Collector's Edition
Quake 2 (or 4)
Quake 3 (or Unreal Tournament x)
Rogue Spear
Aliens vs Predator
System Shock 2
Half Life
Half Life 2
Portal
Team Fortress 2
Call of Duty 2
F.E.A.R
Escape from Butcher Bay
No One Lives Forever
S.T.A.L.K.E.R
Crysis
Max Payne (third person shooter)
Max Payne 2 (third person shooter)

Although not currently out, I would recommend you also add to your list games due out this year:

Crysis Warhead
Far Cry 2
Mirror's Edge (technically not a FPS, but you check it out anyway)
Project Origin

RPG:

Fallout
Fallout 2
Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines
Planescape Torment
Arcanum
Baldur's Gate
Baldur's Gate 2
The Witcher
Mass Effect

Some of the above games may have expansions that may be worth playing.

Who cares if they're turn based. In a way, KOTOR and the Neverwinter Nights are turn based also (you take turns, it's just masked to be real time).

If you want some great older games, Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Age of Mythology, and Morrowind are great games.

On top of what everybody said, I'd also suggest: Medieval Total War 2 and Supreme Commander. While these are both RTS games, they are really great if you're into them.

Never said I liked KOTOR, lol. Turn based just isn't my thing, same with a lot of people, so I was just pointing that out to him as he obviously was unaware (thought fallout was a racing game).

It's silly to discount a game because it's turn based though.
