Everybody here kept telling me not to buy this game because of how down right HORRIBLE it was. Well I took the risk anyway and don't regret it at all.

The single player alone has given me 25+ hours of enjoyment with the single player and spec ops. Both are great fun especially spec ops when playing with a friend. The single player isn't bad by any means, its very fun for 1 or 2 playthroughs and its a lot like call of duty 4, but yeah it isn't as good as cod4 sadly.

The multiplayer does not have dedicated servers sure. I thought I was going to hate the multiplayer because of this, but I was pretty wrong I must say. I haven't encountered any cheaters or lots of lag at all. I still prefer dedicated servers, but to call this system downright unplayable isn't fair at all honestly.

It isn't perfect, but the insane backlash against it is uneeded. People praise Bad company 2 a lot as an amazing alternative for MW2. While the multiplayer is much better then MW2, I sadly can't say the same for the single player, which was nothing more then average honestly.

Anyone agree?

The game is 60$ when the normal cost for PC games is 50$ and MW2 is not nearly as good as some of the other pc shooters on the market. games like BF2, CSS, BBC2, TF2, COD4 and plenty of more games are better for PC than MW2 is, by all means MW2 isn't a bad game but it isn't a game you should buy since it is not the best bang for the buck.

I beat the single player in 5 hours on normal difficulty. From what I noticed, it's full of plot holes and not nearly as epic as Call of Duty 4. In my opinion, the single player in COD4 is leaps and bounds better. The multiplayer is about the same to me, but I prefer the maps in Call of Duty 4. Also, the lack of dedicated servers is extremely dissapointing if you're used to playing COD games on PC.

Edit: And yeah, very, over priced. Expansion packs marketed as full games honestely shouldn't be more than 30 dollars.

It's awesome, i played almost 40hrs to get 36 achievements in single player, i still need more 2 or 3 hours to get the last 4.

And the multi is ok, could be better if we could play with dedicated servers. ¬¬ Anyway the game is still a gem, worth the damn $59. lol

Bad Company 2's single player was underwhelming, but MW2's wasn't any better IMO. It felt like one of those big budget movies that tries to pack in a bunch of special effects and big moments just because they can. The entire campaign just rubbed me the wrong way, like it was trying incredibly hard to impress me or win me over, but the whole experience just felt fake. Spec Ops was okay, but after we finished it I didn't have much desire to play through it again.

MW2 multiplayer was incredibly buggy for the couple of months I played. So many people exploiting glitches and boosting like crazy. It was enough for me to put away the game permanently. I personally think that the killstreaks are a huge joke and really screw up the game's balance.

Dedicated server fiasco aside, I didn't really expect much of this game to begin with, so I wasn't really disappointed.

I didn't find it all that bad, but not all that great either. Spec Ops kept me going throughout the game, but Mutliplayer could use some patching up.

Sure, it was good. But it wasn't stellar, and not really a big improvement on the previous game. I only got about 10-15 hours of fun out of it, which I do not think was worth the cost of a full game, and it certainly what I expect from a AAA title.

MW2 was like a really big firework. Great for an instant...but then it's over.

I definitely agree, although I really don't like the matchmaking and party system. Still, I've received a ton of enjoyment from the game.

Its not as bad as people say, i gave it a 8/10. I think my biggest problem is that IW is so talented, each CoD before MW2 was a big step up from the one before it - 2 brought the series into DX9 and introduced many mechanics which have become industry standards like regenerating health and pressing G to throw grenades (wait, maybe FEAR did that).

with CoD 4 we the series moved to modern times and introduced basic physics, a hollywood movie style campaign, as well as the somewhat revolutionary multiplayer leveling/unlock system (although to be fair the battlefield games were doing it first) which made the series insanely popular.

then Modern Warfare 2 comes along, takes two steps forward, then three back. Sure, we now get death streaks, improved grenade physics and spec ops mode, but we also have lean taken away as well as dedicated servers and a direct console port instead of a multiplat. We now pay for map packs we got for free with COD4. it simply isn't any kind of improvement over 4, in fact its overall worse because of the lack of PC-centric features.

still not a bad game, just not up to the standard of what IW is capable of.

It certainly lacked the 'wow' feeling I felt playing CoD4.

tbh I haven't played the single player of either game, lol... that portion never interested me. I agree that MW2 gets kind of a bad rap. Everyone likes to hate on the game and praise Bad Company 2, but I don't think either game is perfect.

BC2 has the benefit of dedicated servers, but I've joined enough low-pinging servers where the hit detection is still really bad... and I also have issues with all the maps being set up for easy sniping and camping, and serious chokepoints to abuse this.

But then on the other hand, I'll decide to play MW2 with a friend of mine and it sometimes takes us 5-10 mins to find a server, since we keep getting disconnected, cant join each other's lobby, host migration failed, join in but its a really laggy match and it isn't migrating.. all sorts of that stuff happens on a regular basis. But when you join a good room and a good host stays around, it is quite fun.

I have dislikes about both games, but in the end I do enjoy them both in their own way..

It is definitely NOT TERRIBLE but ultimately I just didn't like it as much as CoD4. The single player campaign is like a Michael Bay flick, which is dumb as a rock. The multiplayer is fun but rewards you for the most stupidest things. You get more health from dying too much and people calling down nuclear strikes to wipe out the entire team? No, I just can't deal with that, I like the more in-your-face gunfights of BC2. Just look at me when you kill me, don't use a nuke! =P

MW2 multiplayer is pathetic. The killstreak rewards is what turned me off of MW2. I played it on 360 though. But man, constantly getting hit by predator missles, air strikes, helicopters, the helicopters that other PLAYERS control, with a gun that never overheats or runs out of ammo? lol..so frustrating. The gunplay is as stale as a box of ceral left open for a week. The same crap from like 10 years ago, point shoot and the bullets all go in the same place. Not fun at all and way to easy. The only strategies in the game are rush left, rush right, rush mid then camp. Or rush then run alll the way back to spawn when you're the last one left and camp. Objective games aren't even objectives, they're just team deathmatch with flags and cases laying around to block your view. Nobody cares about objectives so you might as well just play tdm so you don't have annoying icons blocking your view. Oh yea did i mention getting hit by predator missles that only take 3 seconds to pull out and shoot? I think I did, but just wanted to reemphasize how incredibly annoying it is to get killed by a person that has a rocket in their pocket on call.

And just the overall mentality of the game its like for idiots and children. I had to think more about what I was doing in halo 3 than I did in MW2. Theres no need to think or plan or anything, just rush and shoot at stuff, even if theres no one there because your 9mm handgun bullet will shoot through brick walls anyway. I forgot to ask who likes grenade launchers? Nobody? Surprising cause the first sound I hear every round in MW2 is the dooonk sound from a tube shooting into spawn, or some doorway cause theres only 3 ways to go every map and everybody knows you're going to be there in exactly 12 seconds.

Yea that was pretty much just a bunch of complaining but, those are all the thoughts that came to mind when I asked myself if the game is good. So the answer is no, its bad if you have a brain. If you like mindless explosions/shooting and like watching yourself die from an air asset twice every 40 seconds then this game is for you.

Confirm... BC2 is more up my street for squad play/tactical. MW2 is a nice game, but just not my style with spawn & die on small maps. I just see no real fun in that plus the added IWnet crap with no dedicated servers, I've put MW2 on the shelf since BC2.

Like you said, it depends on taste. I have played both and like more the faster paced run-n-gun action in MW2. I'm not saying BC2 is bad, cause it's great also... Lots of people complain about IWnet, but I have had little to no issues in my experience.... I've always found a game, and the only problem was IWnet once in a while choosing the wrong host, that's all...

I'm 118 hours into BC 2, and only played 1/2 of the sp campaign (in the second day, when the servers were out). I didn't play MW 2, but I must say that I heard the OST from Hans Zimmer and is a amazing masterpiece. Aside from this, I have even less interest in MW 2 campaign than in the BC 2 campaign. I bought games mainly because the multiplayer, and MW 2 lacks in too many aspects in the mp department.

Ever since I burned out on CSS late last year I started playing Cod4 multi followed by MW2 when it came out and I really like both of them and to be honest I don't really enjoy Cod4 anymore than I enjoy MW2 (except for SP)......

There's nothing else really out there in the genre that I can enjoy at the moment (BC2 was a huge disappointment), guess I'll just wait till Cod7 or the Medal of Honor game.

Personally I am pretty sure that on its own, MW2 is a good game. But personally I also feel that they've unethically "downgrade" from MW 1 on a lot of things(i rather not mention the same things thats been debated over a thousand times) and remove features so I simply choose not to support that purely on principles.

Of course people will make their "hate" toward the game more heard due to its popularity. It's not a horrible game. But it's also not as good as the sales speak for, in my opinion. BF:BC2 all the way!

If you had fun with it that is all that matters. Some people hate pizza, some evenhate sex. Think about that next time you think about listening to what someone else says it good or not. Saying that, when I hear alot of bad things about a game I typically wait till it is bargain bin to give it a run for myself.

BC2 is pretty bad too, spawn next to your squad then a sniper calls in a mortar and you die. Spawn next to your squad, theres a tank then you die. Otherwise you can spawn at base, run to the front lines then die. I cant say I like IWnet but if you gave me the choice of a bad port or no port at all id take the port any day...

Wth? Calling BC2 bad, because you suck is a lame excuse.

1. Never died by motars when spawning on my squad.

2. Don't ever remember dieing cause of a tank after spawning on my sqauds.

Hate to break it to you, but BC2 isn't a run a gun type of game.

The singleplayer is just as bad if not worse then the first one.. extremely NARROW hallways where you are funneled down into numerous enemies, the inability to open doors.. And the stereotypical Tom Clancy plot where the heroic British and Americans have to save the world from communists and Arab nationalists... The multiplayer gear set up and perk system is pretty cool.. Unfortunately it is ruined with the kill streak system which basically catters to camping.

The thing with MW2 is that its fun, i mean the single player. yes its fun and action packed, but its also full of cliches and your typical Hero wannabe stuff. Other than that, the game does not worth 60$.

@OnFive, seriously you're calling him a fanboy because you can't see in front of you and you can't watch out for tanks? no he's not acting like a fanboy, what you said there means that you actually do suck, you won't get auto aim/wall hack and a 2km tank radar to fix your issues, in any game.

Anyway imo both games are about the same, difference is I find the BC 2 campaign fun compared to MW 2 as for the multiplayer, BC 2 is more intense and it has huge maps but the lag absolutely sucks, exactly like MW 2, what is this madness, 170ms ping on average for all players and that's on servers that should have 63ms according to the server browser...can't wait to get rid of this false dedicated servers that are strictly hosted only by EA, I just hope that time will come soon, the time when they'll release server tools for all users, the time when we will get rid of lag.

I do not agree, the game is not that good.millerlight89
But you said... Ok that seem kinda weird to me because somehow i thought you said you liked the game. Anyway my personal opinion, 60 price tag is heavy. But hey better buy a game you like alot and pay alot than a game that you dont like for a cheap price, right? That was my situation. Anyway the singleplayer is fine. It had its moments. I admit that the story seems far fetched and mostly an excuse to kill bad guys. But it had its moments, still better than waw. A bit more consolized/arcade gameplay, just a little bit, its not the "omg it takes arcade into a whole new level" that some people have said. Its less arcadish that waw that is for sure. Also i have to say that apart from wolverines and that level in Rio, i did not experiance the high enemy spawnings i experiance in the iraq levels of cod4. Infact there are levels like the that you have a more nonlinear aprroach like cliffhanger. Also the spawning are far fewer than waw in which it was insane so singleplayer speaking i dont see how its so bad but waw is not. On to the mp, yes it does not have dedicated servers, big deal many games dont nowadays and future games will not have from now on. We whine to much i guess. Sometimes you might get lag but its not the crap some people making it sound like. But yes there are bad times indeed. Cod4 had dedicated servers but after a while i got bored of the game, on the other hand mw2 mp took the player customization into a whole new level. I really like all those perks and gadgets, they give you so many options to play. I also liked the matchmaking because i got tired of joing servers in cod4 and get owned because the players are to experianced or see no challenge at all. But because in mw2 everyone can get a kill, you constantly have a frag-death gameplay that makes the game more interesting with constant competion. Therefore i liked it more than cod4. Anyway great game, yeah cod4 was a bit better. Thats my two cents right there. Would i play another mw game? Well the ending of mw2 got me interested on what can possibly happen next and what will happen to the characters, so only for singleplayer, i will give it a shot.

Its a very solid package, on and offline. biggest_loser
No, it's not the online is terrible, Full of unbalanced weapons, hackers, the maps are not good either and to top it off no dedicated servers or good community..While the SP has a ridiculous story.. I mean.. Russian troops invading with their troops equipped with Tavors..What were they thinking..

It just lacked alot. The price is ridiculous, not of all of us would be having juciy internet able to handle all of the server problems. Single player wouldnt really be anything without a steam account. It was to darn short anywais. But i still like this game and spent quite a bit of time playing multiplayer. Its still good, you just gotta bite the bullet once in a while.

The game is not bad but the thing is...after playing MW2 and going back do MW1 you will see how bad in comparison the sequel is. Most people complain becouse it is a stripped down version of the previous game.

I love how people act like MW2 is the first FPS to be affected by hackers, the hackers are as much of a problem in MW2 as they are in any other multi FPS game.

Also almost every game has guns that are better and worse, just like racing games have cars that are better and worse. And to be honest I see most of the weapons being used when I play. Lots of games suffer the plight of an abused weapon though ahem magnum ammo M60 in BC2 anyone?

I dislike the direction they took the game - it has almost no versatility to speak off, meaning that its highly polished levels are only enjoyable for about two or three playthroughs. I don't do multiplayer, so the fact that I couldn't do anything with the game other than shoot crapt over and over again in the exact same manner every time irritated me to no end.

I only played the SP at a friends house, but my impressions of the game were very positive. I think BC2 is a better game, but MW2 definitely has some great moments. Don't listen to the people saying it sucks or calling it pathetic...most of the time they are just fanboys of other games or are just haters trying to look cool by going against the crowd.

I played it extensively on PS3, I did not like it. But perhaps that's because it's a console shooter.

Yes yes of course it isn't bad at all if you don't mind the price tag of 60 bucks, noob tubes fest, AA-12s fest, dudes with knife with commando, marathon and lightweight perk, worse than MW1 etc. then you will definitely love the game.
