Way back in august I built a pc... Well, I somewhat built it. Technically I got the newest Acer available that DIDN'T come with vista and built onto it. Got a nice powercolour radeon x1650 pro 512mb, 2 gigs of ram, 45watt psu... Never really thought about chaning the cpu inside. It was a nice and juicy 3.20 ghz cpu with 1 physical and 1 logical cpu inside. Now when I was fiddling around on the Can you run it!? site i stumbled along a little specification about my cpu when i got the results for a couple of games. Supposedly my cpu was 3.20 ghz Performance rated at 4.80 ghz. Now as far as I know there was nothing said about it coming factory overclocked, especially since it was just a regular everyday Joe Blow pc (before i added in the new hardware of course.)

So why is it suddenly appearing as if it was overclocked overnight?

MAYBE IT WAZ TEH GHOST OF TEH CPU TAHT NEVR WAS TAHT OVERCLOCKZ CPU'S IN ORDER TO SATISFY IT'S UNFULLFILLED NEEDZ!!

No but seriously like huh?

sounds like the HT part of the cpu is confusing that application.

I really hate those 'can you run it' things as they are never accurate nor do they tell the whole picture. Hell you can run any game out there, it all depends on how good you want it to look. I mean I survived off a p3 with a geforce 3mx until 2005. Sure it wasn't a wonderful system but I could still play farcry if I wanted.

It's just that system requirements lab rule that rates your HT-enabled CPU at 1.5 x the actual speed.

It doesn't mean anything really.

I see.

Oh and yeah the system requirements lab is very innacurate when it comes to cpu and video card requirements.

I can handle Assassin's Creed fine, but it doesn't think i meet the minimum requirements just ebcause i don't have the same series it wants. Same thing happens with cpu specs. It isn't a dual core but it is powerful enough so it says i can't handle it anyways. Annoying.

I figured that was what you meant cause I was thinking why on earth get just 45 watts and have all that hardware insidey your pc there it makes no sence but now it does.

Oh yeah and also does anyone have any ideas on who to get the best performance out of my pentium 4 without:

Overlocking

Getting a new cpu

or Cooling it until it freezes so much i can't even do anything? It's just because I'm tired of seeing low fps during some bf2142 online matches, like when i get hit with artillery or the titans are close together. It seems like my cpu just needs a little motivation to keep a good fps in those situations, lol.
