My AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Dual-Core Processor is clocked at 999Mhz. I have no idea why. I did some researching and learned that it is clocked at 2.2Ghz. However, when i went to the BIOS and checked my CPU Frequency, It said 2300-2400Mhz even though my processor is clocked at 999Mhz and is slow as hell. Can someone explain it to me?

There's none. Except for Cool N Quiet which is disabled by default. When I try to change my CPU Front Side Bus clock frequency which is set at the lowest. The computer doesn't boot and when I boot it again, it says that overclocking has failed and it will be reverted back to the default settings.

As for adjusting the CPU ratio from Auto to 2200Mhz, it made no difference. The only difference now is that in my computer properites, the clock speed appears as 1GHz instead of 999Mhz.

You can pull out the battery on the motherboard or find your motherboard manual and see where the reset cmos jumper is, ethier one you do let it sit for 30 seconds that way.

Also, most bios nowdays have a load defulats option in them. You shoulden't have to mess with a jumper unless you cant get into your bios or see whats on screen.

The jumper or the battery is just to load all defaults settings at the BIOS. People usually use it when they have bad OCing trial or similiar problems from not being able to boot

You need to use CPU-Z instead of relying on system properties.

Ok. I took a screenshot of me running CPUZ. I'm sure it can go up to 2.3MHz because I used MSI Dual Core Center to monitor the processor fluctuation. It remains at 1000Mhz most of the time. AMD Cool and Quiet is turned off in the BIOS and CPU ratio is at 2300Mhz at the BIOS too already.

go download prime95, start a stress test(cpu intensive) and then open cpu-z. if that number doesn't go up to 2.2ghz then you have a problem and we will work from there.

Small FFT for just cpu testing, which is all you need.

disable cool in quiet in the bios, but for modern games a 4400x2 isn't going to give you super framerates, but sould be playable on medium-high for most games
