Currently I have a Intel(R) Core (TM)2 Duo CPU E6750 @ 2.66 GHz 2.67 GHz, 1.98 GB of RAM Physical Address Extension It's register to IntelboxDP35DPM I have windows xp 2002. With a ATI radeon HD 2600 PRO. The games I play are League of legends, which is a very low game and I run it fine no problem. The problem is I play star craft and I can't even alt tab in a game without being dropped or even my computer crashing. I'm pretty sure I don't have a virus because I run my scans twice a week. I am probably going to play wow again when cata comes out so I'm looking to run star craft 2 and cataclysm on ultra settings. So I will give you a list of what I have picked out and hope you can make suggestions on where I need to improve, and where I can drop some. Any help you guys can offer is greatly appreciated. I understand the windows 7 is OEM, but I have put together multiple computers and my dad is a computer engineer and has helped me build them all as well. Thank you again for your help guys.

Arrggh. This may seem whiney, but is is waaaay nicer when you actually turn the URL into a link. Makes it easier to view quickly, particularly when you are asking for help. The build looks really solid, and I'd go for the ASUS board if I were you.

ok your cpu, an i7-950?? why not just get a i7-920, throw a coolit eco liquid cooler on it and overclock it? your gonna need a liquid cooler/heatsink anyway for your cpu and i say get the evga x58 4 way sli.. i have a x58 sli le and evga has some good mobo's the ram is fine, triple channel ftw :P and idk if u should get a gtx 470.. personally i like ati more ever since all the problems i had with a gtx 480 but i would say get ati's 6870, they are really good cards, use less power and are proven to be on par or slightly better than the gtx 470, but rememed it runs cooler and uses less power. and the 6870 just came out, it will probably be a decent amount better than the 470 when it starts getting more driver updates. if your gonna end up doing sli or crossfire in the future i would recommend getting a 1k watt psu instead of the 750 watt and seagate has really inconsistent harddrives, you should get western digital or samsung spinpoint imo i have both in my pc and work fine but i have read alot of reviews abotu seagates not lasting long and i would get windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, idk if the other windows 7 versions can do this but on windows 7 ultimate if you have older programs you can run them in compatibility for an older OS :) but yea u will definitely be able to tear through starcraft on max like nothing lol

I don't know how to overclock so I would rather spend the 40 dollars and not have to worry about overclocking. Can you send me a link to this heat sink stuff? I haven't build a computer in ages and the last one my dad did most of it. I am not too up to date will all of this, especially the lingo. All input is greatly appreciated. Is what you're talking about the Windows xp mode? http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/compare So you reccomend the EVGA X58 mother board over the ASUS? EVGA - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5376741&Sku=E145-2062 ASUS - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6666331&Sku=A455-2996 What is a good mobo? Also, does the evga offer triple channel while the asus offers only dual channel? I am so sorry to need so much clarification. I am a complete scrub at this.

You can build a 965 AM3 build for less - look at the Gigabyte 870A-UD3 + 6870 + 965.

both boards are good but what is your actual budget if u don't mind spending the money then go intel if you want to have a good build that can still be in the high end area then go amd i have both p1 build and a i7 build actually and its still darn good as far as gpu's go 460's or 6870's or 470/580 or wait for the 6970/6990 to come out.

Apologies.

MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte 870A-UD3 - $95 [newegg]

GPU: Any 6870 - $260 (around)

CPU: AMD Phenom x4 965 - out of stock on newegg $187 on amazon

If you want 2 6870's, then Gigabyte's 890FX-UD5 can run them at full speed for $180 off newegg.

well regardless your gonna have to get a cooler or heatsink, and you will have to overclock if you get more than one graphics card so your cpu wont bottleneck the cards, and here is what i have on my cpu but i bought a crappy lil 120 mm fan to add onto the other side of it to push air out of the raidiator better, i have my 17 920 overclocked to 3.5 ghz and my temps this second are 35-38 lol but it never gets over 50 degrees celsius i love it http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835227006 yea if u have an older program or game u can right click it and select compatibility mode for windows 95, 98, etc.. its pretty sweet yea my evga board is great but that one that u picked out is a freakn beast lol 4 graphics cards! just make sure u buy a full tower case :) and overclocking isnt rocket science, i didnt know how to either but theres lots of guides on the internet if u do a quick google search.. it seriously takes like 2 seconds to overclock but u just need to find out whats the best overclock for you and stays at a stable temperature, nothing over 60 is usually good and coolers like the one i selected above help out ALOT u can also get a heatsink for cheaper but... this is gonna give lower temps, u can look around on newegg for one u might like and read others reviews and see what temperatures they are getting but personally i recommend the coolit eco cuz its doing me really good :) my cpu used to overheat actually when i would play bfbc2 and would take me to blue screen forcing me to shutdown my computer, and the cooler helped alot. oh and if ur reading this right now, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130555&cm_sp=DailyDeal-_-14-130-555-_-Product BUY THAT THIS INSTANT! u dont know how good of a price that is, i would buy 2 of those if i were u lol just cuz of that great price, but if not, yea i recommend 2 6870's if possible. u definitely need to get 2-4 graphics cards if your gonna be using that motherboard and want to take full advantage of it :)
