for a long time now I have been deciding on what new computer i should get for a low price and what i have came up with is this for £400

Intel Pentium D 915 Dual Core (2.8GHz,4MB Cache, 800MHz)

Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium Edition

Mini-Tower Micro ATX Case +250W PSU - Black

ASUS P5B-TMX PCI-Express Mainboard - Pentium D/Core 2 Duo - Micro ATX

1024MB DDR2 533MHz Memory - (2x512MB)

250GB Seriel ATA Hard Drive with 16MB Buffer

Super Format SONY 18xDual Layer DVD Writer +R/-R/RW/RAM

512MB DDR2 nVIDIA GeForce 7300GS - TV out- DVI - PCIe (256Mb SMA)

5.1 High Deifnition 6 Channel Audio Codec (on-board)

Is this spec any good for running the latest games on at least medium settings? please help before I order. e.g. how well would this spec run Battlefield 2142?

Pretty darn bad build actually. Mainly because of the CPU, the PSU(250w is JUST not enough power), and well... your graphics card. I suggest you start from scratch again, that PC ain't gonna last you for more a year.

dont listen to this guy if that is the Pc you can afford get it.  If i was going to build with those i would definetly have a minimum of 400W PSU and wait till the end of march and get a 8800gts 320mb hd oc MSI graphics card because when the new ATI DX10 cards are out Nvidia will drop the price of there current models

You think? give me a few examples of how it would run some games, e.g. Battlefield 2142, Half-Life 2, World of Warcraft, F.E.A.R etc.

2142 = Should run at High settings @ 1024*768 Half Life 2 - High Settings at 1280*1024 WoW - I have not played it :) FEAR - High settings with soft shadows @ 1024*768 If possible, bump up the graphics card to a 7600GT for higher resolution gaming.

well if that spec runs games the way you say they do I would be very very happy as I dont play enough PC games to really splash out on a good PC but this spec certainly seems very good especially since my monitor only goes up to 1024 x 768 and I am perfecty happy with those settings, thanks for your help

does everyone agree with Cyborg-21?  I would like some more opinions from other people just so that I am completely sure.

a 7300gs cannot run those games at high...and i would say to go with a c2d(with socket 775) or amd64 x2(with socket am2) for the processor and mobo...also a better psu and most definately a better video card...at least a 7600 gt...
