Hi, The last computer I bought in 2002 is a complete piece of **** so I guess I will be attempting my first build which I should be able to pull off, if not, I should consider changing my electrical engineering major lol. I'm not sure if these products are compatiable as I don't know how to check otherwise. Also if there are any products I can replace that could save me money and are equivalent or better would be a help because I'm on the edge of my spending limit. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

aslong as your not building this to play WOW,

could get a Q6600 or an e8400 and over clock it those work just fine and are a hell of alot les that an i7 system, you can really save money with an AMD system they have generally lower prices than intel with out much performnce loss but they are a bit harder to overclock

If your planning on keeping this for some time, since it seems you kept your last one for 6/7 years, I'd go i7, best investment and futureproof with the 1366 socket.

I would aim for a better Power Supply. 650w is minimum for a system like this and may even struggle with a high end graphics card. Best bet is to go for something aroung the 850w or even 1000w. Then you will know you will have no trouble and you should not need to upgrade the power supply when you upgrade your computer next.

... And this is where the fallacy of super-powerful PSU's comes in. A good quality 600w PSU will do you well.

look here get this mobo it has 12 review all 12 5 eggs/stars

GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128375

it has 2x PCI Express 2.0 x16 so you can install another card for sli later .

oh, and change your power supply to at least 700watt, so when you plan to get a better card that has a bigger watt requirement , you don't have to upgrade your psu too . i recommend 850watt+

Ok so heres where I'm at now

Processor: Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80601920 - Retail

Case: Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail

Hard drive: Western Digital Caviar GP WD5000AACS 500GB 5400 to 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

Video Card: SAPPHIRE 100259L Radeon HD 4870 512MB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Retail

Memory: CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1333C9 - Retail

Mother board: GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

Dvd Rom: ASUS Black SATA DVD-ROM Drive Model DVD-E818A3T BULK - OEM

Power Supply: CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply - Retail

Cooler: Cooler Master V8

Speakers: Logitech Z-4 40 watts 2.1 Speaker - Retail

Keyboard: Logitech LX310 Black USB Cordless Standard Desktop Laser - Retail

W/vista home 64bit

This would be roughly 1,500 after shipping, which is hefty but I guess I'll sell my wii to match it

QUESTIONS: Whats the difference between SLI and CrossFire? Also if I were to put in another video card, should I put in a different one or the same kind? Another question.. Do I need other accesories with these products or do I have everything I need to build a computer?

SLI is for multiple nVidia cards and Crossfire is for multiple ATI cards. You need the same kind of video cards to use either of these features I believe. (Though I'm not sure on the crossfire)

? 2GB mean nothing into video card .. it all about Steam processor : clock : number of memory afterward : Example : 260GTX : 216 : Steam processor or 4870 : 800 : steam processor : but work with a different way in reality : 260GTX 896meg 216 core is near 4870 1GB : of 800 steam processor if you want a 2GB Card you can get : 4870x2 : 2x1GB : 4870 : GDDR5 : but there nothing that mean the more memory is better it just the power it give that it better more steam processors = more rops / more shader / Better Fillrate of polygons : It is Really complex so you shouldn't search a video card for memory even in business relation if you where business relation then it would be probably a Quatro you need or Testla but that not the same thing they do they do operation instead of gaming
