Ok, so i've been convinced to build my own computer and I've been asking around different places for help. So far this is what i've come up with: https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/Wishlist/PublicWishDetail.asp?WishListNumber=6730346&WishListTitle=Psy%27s+New+Computer I would really appreciate it if someone with more experience could take a look at that setup and let me know if it looks OK, If i've picked something wrong, or whatever.Psycho_Jester
dude nice setup yeah tht will last u for some time. but wheres the case lol sry i jst browsed thru it but cnt see the case. providing the case is big for gd airflow u gt a very gd pc on ur hands
The case was the first item on the list, and I was told it has really good airflow, so unless anyone has anything else to point out to me i will likely be ordering this stuff tomorrow.Psycho_Jester
woops sorry. lol its late here and im gettin lazy :P but get like a 22" screen or a 24 for the GTX but ur 20" will do but u cnt play those super high resolutions.but u can play on 1680x1050 and that looks pretty gd so dnt worry bout the screen too much. but if u can afford to upgrade i wud reccomend it
Yea, i was actually gonna respond to what he said about the screen. I agree that i will be fine with the max res on the one i chose. I think i'll be happy with that, and i will be able to get better FPS for a bit longer than i would if i was going to higher resolutions. And i can always upgrade the monitor later on when the price comes down on bigger screens too.Psycho_Jester
If you are not getting a 24" monitor or bigger, there is really no need for the 8800GTX card then. I would get the 8800GTS which is a much cheaper card and will do a great job on your 20" monitor. I would also consider the 2900Pro which is even better than the 8800GTS I believe. The GTX is kinda of a waste of money IMO if you're only running a 20" monitor.
Anyway, here is my computer's set up

exactly. im on a 20" screen right now and im a very very happy with how the games look on even 1080x1020 or sumtin. lol i 4 got. i cant even play it on 1680x10watever xD an it still look very very gd. so you will be okay wid thth
I would stick with the gtx for later games...
But i would really change the HDD to a bigger one instead of faster one.... you'll see quickly on how 150GB is little now.

I think the GTS is definantly good enough for your current monitor. You will be able to run current games at max at your prefered res, you just cant max crysis, no matter which you get. If you do ever plan on upgrading the monitor, get the GTX as others said. But what i would do is get the GTS, and use the extra money to get a 320gig hd also. That way you can put os and games on the raptor, and store all the other stuff on the 320 gig.
