I have been thinking about making my own rig for the first time in my life. Just felt the time was right, so I got a bunch of questions aside from the normal one which is "What parts are the best?". My budget is around $1000-1300 (is this too low?) I am looking to have a dual screen set up, does it take one graphics card or two? I know I will need a wireless router in my rig, I live in Canada so what site is fast and cheap with shipping the parts?

Could something do wrong while I am putting everything together? Is it easy or do you need a degree in rocket science to put it together? (that was a joke btw but really how much knowledge do you need for this?)

Of coruse I will be using it for gaming, programming (in school for it right now) and make editing a few videos.

1000-1300 is definitely enough to build you any kind of computer, not really. But i spent 645 on my and thats incouding tax, shipping and os. Building a computer is very easy. Just go on youtube and watch all three parts of newegg tv. Really helpful for a beginner. Oh and newegg.com is what everybody uses to build their own comps.

Well, I use Amazon because I have prime so I get free 2 day shipping. It's really easy. Hardest part is picking parts, and that's what people here are for. Your budget is fine depending on how picky you are. I spent more money than i.could have on mine because i wanted everything to be just how I like it. I can post parts later, I'm posting from phone. Right now.

If we can build an $800 gaming machine for an Aussie, we can build you one for $1000-$1300CDN. I live in Canada too, and Memory Express is where I usually shop. When building a system, just take your time, and read the installation manuals. Come here if you need help.

Need monitor(s), OS, keyboard/mouse and speakers?

Also, what is the purpose? I'd assume gaming, but anything else?

I say I want a dual monitor set up, OS and keyboard/mouse I think is a obvious thing I am going to get. I also stated my purpose at the end of my post, gaming, programming and a little bit of video editing.

I'm sorry I missed the last bit. However, you never stated if you needed to buy the monitors or if you already owned them(I still don't know, I assume you need to buy) and not many people need a kb/mouse, only an OS.

Build coming later.
