Never played this game before, but I decided that it was about time that I finally got into these games. So I bought SOC and put on the LURK mod.

After about 20 seconds of walking out of the little town thing I see some sparkly stuff in some grass just off the road. As I walk towards it theres some beeping. I wasn't sure if it was a geiger counter or not, so I just continued. As I get closer some small shock wave type things come off it and the beeping gets faster and faster. So when I finally get into the center of the shock waves I die. Half a minute into the game and I die. I think im going to like this :D

So, just wondering what your most memorable STALKER moment is?

My most memorable moments were treking back and forth through the same areas for hours killing hundreds of respawned bandits, until I realized anything that isn't plotline is a pretty pointless grind

Definitely the first LAB you go into. Also I recommend getting rid of lurk mod and getting Oblivion Lost 2.2 or whatever is the newest version. IT has everything lurk has but more, i mean a ton more. here is a taste

Uh, anyone remember the first time they were at Strelok's stash? That part got to me. Although if you walk right up to the poor thing (unpatched version) it can't do a damn thing, just stands there and gives you a headache. The bloodsuckers themselves aren't that bad, but probably after playing Call of Pripyat their novelty wore off. There was a section where you had to take out a nest of them. Ten bloodsuckers charging down a narrow hall, all of them camoflaged, with only the eyes clearly visible.

The first time I encountered a Controller. That just... freaked me out.

Also, one of the final parts where *something* (I won't spoil it) communicates with you telepathically, so you hear an omnipresent Russian voice throughout the whole area. The last few battles are insane, too.

Some good moments...........

First time getting sucked into a vortex anomaly, and of course getting ripped apart lol. That was a real eye opener.

I will always remember the decent into the first lab of the three you go into in the first STALKER, and getting attacked by that crazy weird as hell psycho-kinetic creature towards the end of that long tunnel. Scared the **** out of me the first time. I returned to the underground lab again later in the game and he was still there. I killed him lol.

The second lab and it's sheer creepiness.

Not a great moment, but one that almost completely ruined my game..........I was in the area of the third underground lab before you can go down and stop the psycho-emissions from it. I had gotten a little too close and started to lose health so I started quick-using all my supplies with no regard for my injuries from enemies and the damage the emissions were doing. I had quicksaved as I tried to escape that moment, and soon died. Unfortunately, that quicksave was the only save I had done in a while. Numerous times I tried escaping from the area using that quicksave and meticulously using my last few supplies at the right moment before death. Eventually I got it down, and escaped. It just about cost me a good 15 hours or so of gameplay time.

I ordered STALKER on Amazon and I'm getting somewhere between now and August 16. It's going to be awesome since I'm also getting the Logitech G35 surround sound headset.

BTW what is LURK mod?

Likely a big battle in the red forrest I was once in, runnign from cover to cover with an ar that was in none too good shape, and one nad ha half mags when I got into that fight (plenty of medkits tho).

The most amazing game of hide and seek Ive ever had in a game, only shooting when a headshot was acertainty or one of the 2 other factions that was fighting eachother had taken one of them down to so low health that a bullet would likely finish him off...

Really fun being this hidded 3rd player in that conflict, on that dark rainy night, where thunderstrikes was the best lightscource avaiable when it struk.

STALKER is amazing because it does not make scriptet setpieces, but allowes for some utterly amazing none scripted things to happen. And because it does not treat the player as a dribbeling mnoron that needs to have his hand held all the way.

After that fight, and looting the bodys, I felt like I had accomplished comething big. I was kind of proud I lived through that ^^

In the first mission where you have to rescue Nimble from the bandits, I ran in with my pistol blazing and got mowed down. That's when I realized that this game was nothing like Call of Duty :P. By the end, though, it became one of my favorite PC games.

Also, when I got to the end of the tunnels under Agroprom and had my first run-in with a Controller. That was pretty jarring.

I was stuck on a really high platform and the only way down was this long ladder. The problem was, there were probably twenty dogs, three snorks, and an actively camouflaged bloodsucker waiting for me at the bottom. Luckily, there was an electric anomaly below me (not directly below me). I waited for the anomaly to set off and I sniped a few of them buggers. In five minutes I was down on the ground and looking at all of he corpses. I was in the Wild Territory, and I sprinted for the exit. I was so afraid there'd be more mutants, and there were, but a Duty patrol came strolling in to save the day.

You'll have to see the Wild Territory to believe it. Oh, and X18. Don't go in there with music running in the background, or you'll miss all of the creepy sound effects. That's all I will tell you ;P

My most memorable moment was when i played for 3 hours without saving to have the game crash. I was quite angry. The other most memorable moment was the first time it crashed. I walked out of that basement thing with the guy in it then CRASH. Ahhhh, such memorable memories. The other one is when i found out that if i press the Escape button more than once the game will crash. That was quite an interesting discovery.

Do yourself a favor. Before you go into Lab X18, wait till 1 in the morning (preferably when no one is home). Turn off all the lights in the house and crank the volume up.

My first gunfight. I must have died like 10 times before i finally finished the mission In the beginning the game its quite difficult which is good think considering its rewarding and further into the game you continue finding better guns better armor etc etc etc that will make your life abit less harder :)

Thing I remember most is loading Clear Sky, then it crashing due to something called BugTrap. I reloaded, it kept crashing. I got pissed off with the BugTrap problem so I turned it off and never went back to it. If I ever figure out how to get Clear Sky to run for more than five minutes without crashing, I might give the Stalker series another chance.

That game gave me a lot of memories. The labs are certainly unforgettable, and navigating through artifacts was something I had to stick into my mind to get through the game.

Right. I thought it may have been something to do with the computer or a glitch in the game.

I dunno, but if this is going to consoles, they better either avoid things like that, or simply make the weapons more accurate or the combat more simply. If it wants to be a survival game, fine just make weapons powerfull as matched to reallistic ballistics, if it wants to be more gamish, so be it but dont give me so rough odds. It makes the combat meh.

Clear sky is the buggier of all Simple solution. Download Stalker complete mod. it doesnt change any gameplay mechanics or mission but it fixes alot of bugs, replaces alot of textures with others of higher res, added some effects and fixes a few balancing issus

The odds in STALKER were not rough. You just need to learn to the use the weapons. Half way through the game, I was able to score headshots with a pistol, and I didn't even try for that.
If you are looking for an arcade game, this really is not for you. No point in complaining about wanting a game that is developed exactly for your tastes.

Meh, i shot someone with the shotgun in the head twice in the swamps and he did not die. Thats all the proof i need. Stalker shooting is a bad mix between rpg and suposely "Reallistic ballists" with unreallistic damage. I too was able to pick a good weapon later on in the game and kick the crap out of anyone but that does not change the fact the first weapons are unreallistic crap that best suited for the so called arcade game you reccomend and me and not a "Reallistic" game that you make stalker to be.....which is clearly not.

Prove it! Prove that your weapon is in good condition and you shot the enemy in the head and it did not work. Then I will believe you. Until then, there is no way I am believing you.

So you want me to reinstall clear sky, start the game till i reach a specific mission, find the specific enemy type i found, go into the same area and the same range under the same situation and the same weapon upgrades and get a video and upload it here just to win an argument over the internet? Well it does not matter if you belive me or not. I know i saw it and thats enough form my opinion on the game and thus it remains. Fell free to flame me and tell me to play a freaking arcade game because i am such a big noob... i just dont care anymore :( you take things too seriously for me.

Were you using the hunting rifle/sawed-off shotgun, firing a single projectile from thirty yards away? Or were you in their face?

I've had enemies bend over in pain after I shoot them in the face with a pistol from a good distance out, but you must absolutely suck if your shots did nothing. But then again, Clear Skies is the b*st*rd child of the STALKER series, so nitpicking that game is like pointing out that the mustache on the Russian sergeant in COD5 isn't up to par with their historical coutnerparts.

Was it Lab x16 with the poltergiests? That mission frightened me soo damn much that I quicksaved and exited the game for a few hours before coming back. :(

So, just wondering what your most memorable STALKER moment is?

No way can I even begin to answer this. I beat the game on Master difficulty, and it got kind of unforgiving, especially towards the end where the radiation tears at your health and you have to keep injecting yourself with radiation syringes and healing. I got the 'good' ending when I beat it too, so I had to go through that 'last part.' I actually had to reenter the rooms and loot the dead bodies over and over again to get health packs, ammo, and radiation syringes.

I like the part where the Russian man ate the chicken leg at the beginning.

Except the guy eating it needs to be punched in the face.
