I've been on a break from gaming and thought this might be a good start. How would it run recent games?

Hell of a good start. The graphics card could use a kick in the pants, but you've definitely got a good start.

Hmmm sounds hopeful. What are the prospects of running Dragon Age: Origins?

That's fine, you just need a new card and maybe OC your CPU.

Great deal. OC the CPU and drop in a new GPU and you'd be good to go.

Will you have any money to spend on upgrades? If not, just overclock everything and you'll be fine. Congrats on the great deal again btw :)

You can judge a lot about a friend from the deals they sell you. Your friend for example sounds like a swell guy. I remember a guy who I thought to be a friend tried to rip me off from a used graphic card he tried to sell me. I cut off all contacts with him soon afterward.

For US$150, that's an astoundingly good system, though I'd still like to know what motherboard is being used. Overclock the CPU, get a better graphics card (8600 GT may suffice, but you'd want at least an 8800 GT for good gaming performance; such a card probably won't choke your PSU, either, unlike the really high-end ones), possibly double the RAM, and you should be set for a few years.

Pretty good, for $150. Can't really get any better for that price when you're getting all those parts to start you off with. I say Get another power supply, change out the motherboard (taking a guess that it's not so great) and definitely up the graphics card and you maybe have a really good PC gaming machine there. But you gotta crawl before you walk!
