It isn't like the story makes or break the game, in this case. Dead Space could basically have no story and still be a wonderful game. Play through it.

What part(s) did he spoil?

It's not like Dead Space has some marvel of a plot. Just enjoy it for what it is: a fun action game.

I didn't even care about the story, I had so much fun going through it.

But from what I hear about Dead Space, its a pretty fun game, so you should play for the fun of it, it'll keep yoou occupied until you get Dead Space 2, which is gonna be amazing (from what I hear).
