The other day my graphics card just suddenly refused to render any games. I'm not sure how it happened, either, I was playing games just fine and then the next day it just completely stopped working. I haven't installed anything new, so this is really weird. It won't run any game that I try. You can hear the music in the background, but it's usually just a black screen or nothing at all. The card is a Geforce FX5200.. I've tried re-installing the graphics drivers and no dice. Can anyone help me with this issue?

You could try an earlier "restore point", and see if it's a software problem.

Is the problem only in games? And are you running XP?

Yeah, I'm running XP. And the problem is only in games, no games will run at all, it just won't load the graphics. The music and everything is fine, it'll run intro videos and such, but when the game has to render graphics, it won't do it.

The FX5200 isn't exactly known for it's stellar performance and reliability. If you re-installed the drivers and tried system restore points to no avail, you're most likely out of luck. You could try doing a Windows Repair, which will reset all the system files, but if the restore didn't work I doubt you'd have any luck with that either. You could format, but again, if the restore point didn't work, that probably wouldn't either, but you never know.

Sadly, you're most likely looking at getting a new card.

EDIT: Actually, try re-installing Direct X too. If the problem is only with 3D rendering, that could likely be your problem.

Like ZEPP1 said, you could try a windows repair, i.e. put your OS disc in, and reboot, then select the "repair windows" options.
