It's pretty simple.I first ran the GPU benchmark with 1024x768 and 4xsuper sampling AA.Then i ran the GPU benchmark at 1280x960 with normal 2xAA.I got the same no. of fps in both of these situations.
10x7 with 4xsuper sampling looks "considerably better" than 1280x960 with 2xAA and super sampling in 12x9 sends the fps down to unplayable levels.So why play in a higher resolution again?
It must also be noted that when running in same settings 12x9 looks considerably better than 10x7 but when you put SS in 10x7 it completely changes it.Almost jaggieless trees while in motion.
I also know that supersampling does not scale well in every game but it does in crysis and having the ability to play in a lower res comes in very handy with cryssis.
