You actually have to read the error provided with the BSOD, that's why it's there... once you have diagnosed, you will be able to fix it. It is unlikely you will need to buy anything.

The most common reason for a BSOD is because memory from a program is stepping on other memory usually reserved for system processes. The second most common reason is because of a resource conflict.

Nope, might just be a software problem. Stick your OS disc in and reboot, then try the Repair Windows option. Or, see if you can boot into SafeMode push F8 a lot at bootup, then try a restore point.

well it's possible that it's shutting down one of your system processes while trying to shut down your original error (happened to me once)

The BSOD is not an error. It's a Windows feature.

Look under system, double click errors, sometimes it will tell what caused the error or what hardware was involved.

I don't think the word "hated" does BSOD much justice. Maybe something along the lines of "s**ttin-my-pants-feared" would be a better description...
