I just got my new computer, now i can finaly play some proper PC games!

It's a Dell with Vista, 2.66Ghz Intel Viiv Core 2 Duo, 2Gb RAM, 320Gb Hard drive and a Geforce 8600 GT. Any good do you think? How will that hold up against Crysis?

should be alright, an 8600 GT isn't a whole lot of power for the savage beast known as Crysis but it should be alright for most things.

its a pretty good machine, agian, for gaming the one thing holding you back is the video card, i wouldnt expect crysis to run at higher then medium settings at 1280*1024, but i could always be wrong, after all, we have only seen the beta and it isnt optomised, and we have no idea how much they are going to improve it.

but agian, it should be a good little gaming rig that will be able to play most stuff out maxed out at 1280*1024 and even abit higher.

Of course it will run crysis. My 7800gt will be able to run Crysis for crying out loud. I recall seeing an article saying that will run a 6800 with good FPS.

the 8500 is significantly slower, the 8600 (and all of this is just an educated guess, could be way off) will likley handle it around 1280*1024 at medium settings, my guess is the 8500 will probably run it 1024*768 at low to low medium settings.

I have the 8600 GT... I ran the beta at High settings 1280x1024. results=10-30 fps. Bad average framerate but it was the beta stage. So final game hopefully can do it in High if not.. then I'l play in 1024x768. I do have a Quad Core 6600 though :P

yes, that is another thing, crysis is supposed to be mutithreaded, so you should get a large boost compared to dual core users, and once they optomize it that framerate should jump up quite abit.

if the 7300 runs it at all, it wont run it well, i would be surprised if you can play it with that card, i would upgrade if i were you, and it doesnt have to be anything wild, some like the 8600gt 256 would probably be a great card.

Don't be ashamed of medium, it still looks really good. I have a Q6600 and a 2900XT and I play the beta on medium/high with a 40-50 average, looks great

not nessecarally, with a card that has a 128 bit bus, it will have trouble utilizing the extra memory, esspecially with a core speed being the limiting factor for a 8600, for example a 8500gt with 512 gets slain by a 8600 with 256, go with the 256 version, its more then enough, but if dx10 isnt important as i said above the1950pro is your best bang for your buck, its cheaper and faster then a 8600.

http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=725&model2=855&chart=296

you can play with what game its benching and the settings, but you will always see the 1950 ahead of the 8600.
