I just got my new computer, now i can finaly play some proper PC games!
It's a Dell with Vista, 2.66Ghz Intel Viiv Core 2 Duo, 2Gb RAM, 320Gb Hard drive and a Geforce 8600 GT. Any good do you think? How will that hold up against Crysis?

its a pretty good machine, agian, for gaming the one thing holding you back is the video card, i wouldnt expect crysis to run at higher then medium settings at 1280*1024, but i could always be wrong, after all, we have only seen the beta and it isnt optomised, and we have no idea how much they are going to improve it.
but agian, it should be a good little gaming rig that will be able to play most stuff out maxed out at 1280*1024 and even abit higher.
I dont think it will run crysis well at all :-\, correct me if im wrong though. Edit: I am talking about the GFX cardDr_Brocoli
Of course it will run crysis. My 7800gt will be able to run Crysis for crying out loud. I recall seeing an article saying that will run a 6800 with good FPS.
I have the 8600 GT... I ran the beta at High settings 1280x1024. results=10-30 fps. Bad average framerate but it was the beta stage. So final game hopefully can do it in High if not.. then I'l play in 1024x768. I do have a Quad Core 6600 though :P
yeah the 8600gt is the one im thinking of getting seeing as everyone hates the 8500gt so much. what psu would put me in a safe zone with the 8600gt? 400w?
dont worry zaber im not a hardcore gamer i just want crysis to run okay. and to play most games on high.
joecrow i want your pc.
i wont be ashamed of medium im hardly a hardcore gamer.
the 8600gt is the card im thinking of upgrading to seeing as everyone hates the 8500gt so much.
could the 8600gt max call of juarez?
what psu would be necessary for the 8600gt?
P.S. sorry if i already posted this message, for some reason i cant see it even though on the hardware page it says i did.
is the x1950 pro any better? could it play it on high?
i know i said i wasn't a hardcore gamer but my budget might have increased (yahoo!!) so im now thinking of the x1950 pro. any other recommendations on a good but not too expensive card? i dont care about dx10
not nessecarally, with a card that has a 128 bit bus, it will have trouble utilizing the extra memory, esspecially with a core speed being the limiting factor for a 8600, for example a 8500gt with 512 gets slain by a 8600 with 256, go with the 256 version, its more then enough, but if dx10 isnt important as i said above the1950pro is your best bang for your buck, its cheaper and faster then a 8600.

you can play with what game its benching and the settings, but you will always see the 1950 ahead of the 8600.
