I just buoght myself a Club 3d Radeon HD5770 1Gb.

I got home and tried to install it onmy motherboard, But i couldn't fit it into my PCI-E slot, because a heatsink is in the way D: (My current motherboard is an ECS HT2000)

No problem... I needed a new motherboard anyways... But there is one problem:

The only motherboards i can find (wich is cheap) got the PCIE slot directly above an AGP slot. I have seen that the AGP slots are higher that PCI, so i could imagine that the AGP would the 5770 uninstallable. (The 5770 is "two story" btw. It's insertet in a PCI, and then filling the hole of the cabinet underneath it too). So: Will it fit over the AGP port, or is there any motherboards wich canhold the 5770 without any space problems?

I want a micro-ATX by the way, since my cabinet is that size. DDR2 RAM, and AM2 socket (Athlon 64x2 :P)

Any great solutions? :P

AMD Athlon 64 with an AM2 socket for cheap that will fit the 5770? Lets see what we can come up with.

Take a look here at this link. It's got a list of Micro-ATX boards. Since I haven't seen exactly what the spacing issues can be with that card maybe this can give you a good start.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010200022%201070947010%201075707619&bop=And&ShowDeactivatedMark=False&ActiveSearchResult=True&Order=PRICE

Any of these look good for fit factor?

EDIT: after doing some reading looks like a guy got a 4850(which is a large card)to fit into this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128342it's a Gigabyte board so it's going to be pretty good.

If the card will fit over the AGP port (when inserted in the PCI above) then most of them looks perfect :D The 5770 is almost as long as the motherboard is wide, and it takes the space of two ports (only connected to one). so no components may be higher than the PCI port in that area :)

As a reply on your edit: I see that the 4850 is only filling one slot of space?

Ok I went and checked what the 5770 looks like and it is a bit fatter than I expected. I thought it would be similar in size to the 4870 that I'm using or so. Dang you're really going to be cramped for space in there aren't you lol.

Ok well just make sure that the board you pick out supports your CPU, and keep in mind the things your card will be blocking. Other than that good luck on your purchase :)

What are you using the AGP slot for exactly? Not a lot of things plug into those anymore.

huh? PCIE motherboards do not have AGP slots   I think the problem you are talking about is that the northbridge passive cooling heatsink is in the way of the card right? This type of problem is uncommon but it can happen in some cases. Oh and PCI Express video cards do not fit in AGP slots

I do not say i want it to fit INTO the AGP. The card is just so big, that it takes Two slots. If i insert it into a PCIE, which on some motherboards is placed at a slot above an AGP, will the extra "story" of the 5770 then be able to fit OVER (not Into!) the AGP, or will the AGP be too high, and hit the 5770's casing?

I think that you mean PCI slots? Either way, all of the slots are the same height, so you won't have any problems. BTW, what is the exact model number of your motherboard? I may be able to help you fin a solution that doesn't involve buying a new motherboard...

My board is a ECS HT2000 (almost similar to this: http://xtreview.com/images/ECS%20A740GM-M%20(V1.0).jpg) You see the heatsink at the rear of the PCIE slot. THAT is the current problem. It is too high. And i'm sorry for the confusion hare. I always thought that the PCI slots were AGP. But now i see that the new motherboards i want, has PCIE, and then PCI underneath :P But if you're sure the PCI isn't higher that PCIE everything is allrigt :D

The slots are the same height. And since your SB is passively cooled anyway, you could take the fan off of this heatsink and use it instead. That's the cheapest option.
