There are many problems from 1 year. First, there is a noise coming from my cpu. I cleaned the whole motherboard, for 3 days there was no sound. Again the sound came back. Whenever I play any game, the sound comes, even popcap games! Please help me. What can be the problem. Can it be the power supply? Even when I use visual studio my computer becomes sooo slow. I think my pc is acting as if I have 128 mb ram. I have 1 gb ram and P4.

Are you sure the sound comes from your CPU? How much free memory do you got on your HDD(s), with very little left the swap/pagefile will have a hard time = resulting in a very sluggish PC, that would explain the sound also as some older HDD's make a very strange sound when they read-write all the time.

How much free space should I have then? The sound that comes when you drive a car, is the same sound coming from my cpu.

I have a pentium 4 and it's as loud as **** Always sounds like it's being revved up. After 3 years it kinda grows on you.

I have an old p2 in my bedroom that I still use for spread sheets. Sounds like a 747 Taking off.

what os? no os needs 12gb free to run properly. vista needs about 4 before it becomes critical, and with only 1gb of memory, he probably only has 2gb of pagefile. that means he is still around 6gb in the clear. first things first, is your p4 overheating? 2nd, try doing a defragment, if you did not re install windows you may have a location problem. and 3rd, is your ram fst or slow? is it pc3200,2700,or 2100(or 4200,5300,or 6400 if its ddr2)

lkav and gmaster, I hope you guys both realize that cpus produce no noise, if anything it's the heatsink for them. And the sound on old computers is not their fans, it's the hard drives.
