Hi,

I've recently bought a new PC

and currently just freakin blows in performance..

my system:

MSI p35 neo-f

Intel Core 2 duo E8400 3.0ghz

4gb Corsair xms2 dhx

Club 3D 8800gt 512mb Zerotherm

Windows vista ultimate 64bit SP1

My Score in 3Dmark06 is 7460 -------- 1289x1024 AA:off -- AF:optilmal

- now that shouldn't be right, since what I've read it should be more like 10-11k'ish??

Anyways I think it has something to do with my GPU somehow, I've downloaded Rivatuner, ntune and atitools.. Too check my clockspeeds etc. When trying to entering any of them the clock speeds are set to 0 mhz - and I can't change them? I'm using the forceware 175 drivers.

Rivatuner can't detect the clock speeds.. Ntune crashes and Ati just goes gray(can't detect)..

So anyone have any suggestions?

this just plain sucks.. I really wanna get this thing working properly

update:

Oc'ed my cpu and ram to 3800mhz & 1060mhz

which upped my score to 12000 in 3dmark06 - still couldn't touch the gpu..

anyways is this a fait score, or should I get more out of that oc'ing?

its probably a fault with your 8800gt. send it back to the place you bought it from and tell them its underperforming and you think its faulty. i went through 3 8800gt's until i finally got one that worked. most of them have memory faults and such which you dont notice unless it either artifacts your display or it underperforms.

really send it back and get a replacement :) they should just swap it over for a new one

You should get 12.000pts without OC.

What are the individual score on 3Dmark06?

have you conected all cables to the VGA card? (there should be one for the PCIe lane also)

It might be you power settings. This heppened to me when I first got my new pc. Right click on the screen, go to personalize, then screensaver. Once the box opens up, click on the blue change power settings and choose balanced or high performance.

Dude...check the stickied 3D Mark scores thread, compares your score to people with similar specs. I got 16141 with a 9450 Quad running 3.2 and my 9800GX2 stock. 8 thousand ish doesnt sound way off for your specs....

As said above you have a problem with some piece of hardware...

Also, I just wanted to post to say at first I thought this thread said "My PC - underpants??". Just after I made fun of someone for their reading skills....

OKay - I checked my hardware and as someone suggested -.. cables..

So I tried to switch the card with another PCIE cable.. and now i think it's fixed.. anyways the clock speeds are detectable now..So I went and loaded the stock settings for my system.. and i get a average score of 11700 in 3dmark 06..

So i tried to OC it a bit.. But I don't get any substantial improvement.. then 100-200points..

I oc'ed the cpu to 3600mhz and the ram to 1060mhz.. still no real improvement.. any sugesstions?

Yup, they don't run that smoothly. I just use 3dmark as *benchmark* on how my system performs.. a referecne point.. If it wasn't for 3dmark.. I would be running a system which underperforms.. now that would suck right?
