I recently got a new dell inspiron laptop and one of the main things I will use it for is corel painter x, a really good drawing program that I'm using to try to make a comic. It obviously takes a VERY LONG TIME to draw and color a comic on a computer, but that's not even what I'm worried about. What i'm worried about is how long my laptop can last when I'm running this pretty demanding progrm for up to eight hours a day. Obviously, it'll be less when school starts up again and on days that I have other stuff to do. That's pretty much the maximum. My last mobile (an alienware) became virtually unusable within 2 or 3 years because of overheaing. Now, if this computer fails on me, I'm in trouble; even if it is in 2 years or so... Am I being paranoid? Should I be worried? If so, what can I do to make this laptop last me a good long time? Thanks in advance.

If you are that worried you should back up your things on a hard drive or something..The only thing that you should worry is about how much CPU usage you are using while making your comics etc.. The higher it is the CPU heats up which isn't very good.

You can always get a cooling pad that raises the computer up off the table and has fans to help pull the heated air away from the laptop. I use a laptop for some fairly high end gaming and I have an Nvidia 7900 that heats up quickly and I can cool my computer off significantly by propping the back end up with a book or CD case to allow air to flow under the bottom. Unfortunately, the bottom line is that a laptop really might not last more than 2 or 3 years if it is being pushed to it's limits 8 hours a day.

About that: I guess I really didnt make it too clear... 8 hours is like what I did today. I really had nothing else that needed to be done, but thatll all change in september. Besides, even when I'm on vacation, 8 hours is an extreme. Normal, i would say, is about a couple of hours.
