My planned gaming rig ordering end of month, Your Thoughts?

Alright guys I haven't built a lot of desktops but enough to think I know what I need to get by and enough to shift from the PR talk and focus on what is more important when building a desktop.

Either way I know plenty of people are going to be more knowledgeable then me. So here is my build if you can share me your views and if you can point anything out such as concerns if you see any it would be most appreciated. I am pretty sure it is all compatible and that it will all fit but if I am being silly and haven't noticed something please point it out, Also if you think I should swap out one component for something else also please share. This is going to be a AMD build so also please keep that in mind.

Case: Corsair 540D

PSU: Corsair AX1200i

Mobo: Gigabyte 990FX UD7

CPU: 8350

Cooler: Corsair H110

GPU: MSI GTX 780Ti

RAM: AMD Gamer 16GB Dual Channel (C9 1866MHz)

Overkill with the PSU. Or are you planning to add another GPU or two down the line?

The Corsair AX760i is still enough for your system. With the money saved, you might afford 4770K with fitting mobo from Intel?

You do not need a 1200w psu, also Why would you need a case like that? A Corsair 400r would do the job while taking less space and is cheaper. Also the H110 is not needed, Also pairing a 8350 with a $200 motherboard with a GTX 780ti is not right , you should aim for the i5 4670k or i7 4770k with a Z87 board.

Corsair TX or HX 750w psu is plenty, if your going for SLI later on The Corsair RM 1000w or HX 1050w is more then enough. Plenty of options for cases like Rosewill Thor, HAF 932/X, Corsair 400/500r etc. There are more cost effective cpu coolers out there and if your not planing on doing major overclocking then the Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO is plenty. Just by switching out 1200w psu with a 750w allows you get an i5 4670k with an Z87 based motherboard.

Agree with the PSU overkill unless you're planning on throwing in a few more 780 ti's in the future. But to spend all that cash on a high end MOBO and massive PSU then choose an 8350? Your money would be better with intel.

You don't need to spend £200 on a motherboard. That is unless you want to do some serious OC'ing

Sarcasm?... Must be because Corsair case's are some of the best around and their PSU second to none.

Also TC why are you going with a AMD build?... Have you not seen any benchmarks?

I find it rather daft that people build PC's based on a predisposed biases... It's all about performance for intended use.

Over the years I went with AMD, INTEL, ATI, NVIDIA... I went with who ever can give me the best performance but these days I see people picking high end AMD CPU's and it baffles me.

I would go with the following:

• Intel i5 4670K
• Phanteks TC12, Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 3, Noctua D15
• MSI Z97 Gaming
• 16GB Corair Vengence
• Asus R9 290X
• Any GOLD 800-850 watt PSU

Why I went with these choices?

1. The i5 is far superior than a FX CPU in gaming and its the same price
2. High end air coolers are half the price of high end water coolers but perform very similar... if you want water cooling do it properly if you want a actual advantage over high end air coolers.
3. Z79 board gives you upgrading options in future and supports both crossfire and SLI
4. 16GB RAM... RAM doesn't matter too much these days buy any you want but don't let the frequencies distract you they dont benefit gaming at all
5. 290X... Well a after market 290X is SIGNIFICENTLY cheaper than a 780 Ti and performs almost as good in the majority of games
6. Gold rated 800-850w PSU from Corsair, Seasonic, Be Quiet, EVGA and Antec is more than enough for two 780 Ti's or 290X's.

I am not bias in any way... I have GTX 780 Ti and bought it when after market 290x weren't out and right now a after market 290x is the card to get the extra $150 for the little extra the 780 Ti gives you isn't worth it.

Get what you want, but you did ask for advice.
