I have been getting poor perfomance in games where I used to run lag free (CS 1.6, CSS,etc) and I checked my CPU temp in Bios and its at 97 degrees Celsius! What could be the problem of this and how can I fix it? The fan is new and is running good but I noticed that the thermal paste is dry though. Could that be the problem or can it be something else? BTW my processor is a Intel Pentium 4 3.06ghz w/Hyper Threading

Yeah definately get some new thermal paste! Good god man, 3 more degrees and i'm pretty sure the CPU will shut itself down to avoid damge.

Those temps, are definitely harming your preformance, you could try adding thermal paste or get an after market cooler and add some arctic silver.

wow 97 is bad,,,very bad, your CPU will last a year using those temps. Go out and spend $25 on an aftermarket heatsink and arctic silver, ur temps should go way down.
