That's not very good. I just tested mine and it was 9878 KB/S down, 1785 KB/S up. Are you on dialup?
i tried all the connection speeds no luck im afraid, and im on ADSL... whats weird is even when i join games on CSS my Download rate stays the same dosent decrease at all but never goes above 50 kb/s the estimated time remaning is 6 hours blabla minutes..
It's really slow for me today as well. I'm on a 1MB connection (slow, but I live in a rural area so it's the fastest available) and I usually get around 100 kb/s, but today it's been about 5-15 kb/s. It'll probably be better tomorrow.
I have 16 mb/s down and 1 mb/s upspeed but still my steam keeps downloading @ 2-100 kb/s which pretty much annoys me since i downloaded CoD5 via steam on my other pc @ a steady speed of about 1.6 mb/s
Is it that the servers where CSS is on are on heavy traffic load?

Wow 33.0KB/sec would be badass on dialup, no to mention 1500KB

Is that kilobit or kilobyte? My max download speed is about 360 kilobyte per second and I'm running on DSL.

hey... I have this problem too. I have wi-fi internet, unlimited downloads, everything i am downloading Left 4 Dead off steam. it said approx download time 2 hours 41 mins. Its been that time and 3%done ... download speed at 2-10 KB/s highly unusual anny tips??
When downloading stuff from the orange box my download speed was steady at 40 kb/s. At the moment my Rome: Total War my downloads going at about 2 kb/s... estimated download time is 2 weeks... P.S. Try setting priorities bye going to task manager, Right-Clicking on download Select "Go To Process" Right click the process Hover over "Set Priorities" Set it to High or Realtime :D

1mb connection is fine for online gaming. Any 2 digit ping is fine.

Everybody Will be downloading Black Ops for the next week :P I expected everything to slow down on steam because of this so I downloaded a few games yesterday to help me through the week :)

Dial up downloads at 5kbs. 1500kbs is about a 10mbit connection. Thats very good indeed for certain parts of the world.
Dont listen to the damn fools saying your connection is too slow, i'm adsl2 which normalydownloads at600 kb/s but steam downloads at 5- 50 kb/s. It is steam crap to blame.I can do a download off the net at 600 kb/s and at the same time steam 10 kb/s

Try changing the server region, I know for the most part in the midwest area it defaults to Chicago and I changed mine to Detroit and my speeds have improved a little bit.
