Calm down, I'm not sure if you realised but you have to be 13+ to make an account here.
But anyway just contact their customer support I've never heard of steam itself banning you for cheating. Just individual servers for X game.
they do VAC bans, kicking you off multiplayer on all steam servers iirc. if they catch someone cheating, they'll look into it and then ban them after a couple of weeks - they wait a while to make sure cheaters are never exactly sure what got caught.Calm down, I'm not sure if you realised but you have to be 13+ to make an account here.

What kind of password were you using, random characters and numbers? Did you open steam emails and enter your password, did you give passwords to friends chatting claiming they were steam employees. I find it hard to believe that you could be hacked so many times following secure protocol.nutcrackryeah, that - as i mentioned in another thread before too, Steam itself is incredibly secure when it comes to user data. but a lot of people use the same username on Steam as they do on other sites that AREN'T incredibly secure, like random forums which are easily hacked. if someone gets your password from another site and it's the same as Steam.. that's all it takes
There was a topic posting EXACTLY like this a couple months ago.. seems weird that you'd be banned for no reason. No point posting topics about it here.. we can't do anything. Contact their customer support.Rattlesnake_8
I remember it too and agree with your post.
Clearly your password isn't good enough and you should have realised this after the first time you were hacked. Dont think you can get your account back at all. Should learn from your mistakes, not repeat them :P
I'm sorry to hear that. My recommendations are:
- Don't rebuy things you don't need to. Vac Bans have no effect on singleplayer games. If you want TF2, don't re-buy the OB, just rebuy TF2. The only things you really have lost are TF2, CS:S, DoD:S, and Gary's Mod's Multiplayer portion.
- Don't spend any more money on anything until you're secure. Some people might not figure this part out but password strength has absolutely nothing to do with having your account stolen. You didn't get your account hijacked because some guy randomly came up with your username and randomly guessed your password. Chances are it would have gotten hijacked because you were keylogged.
- Download Spybot : Search and Destroy along with Ad-Aware SE, update them, and do some full system scans. This is a MUST if you plan to do anything that you want to be secure in the future. Avoid suspicious files.

That is good advice. I didn't think about keyloggers.
But still, if your password is really crappy, it can be guessed on some sites if they allow an infinite amount of login attempts. I rarely use Steam so I actually don't remember how it is. I've known people's computers to get hijacked because they make their admin or root password something stupid like password123 or root. With enough time, a person could succeed with a common password/dictionary password guessing utility if the server doesn't have extra security measures to prevent this from being easy (ie: time delays).
But in conclusion, that guy is right, assuming your password isn't retarded.

That my friend would either be a dictionary attack or a brute force attack. Either one would continously attempt logins with different passwords, the first using words and the second using all characters on a keyboard. As for the keylogger, most of the time it isn't a keylogger but these attack programs. (Unless you pissed off a friend or something. Plus, if you had a keylogger on someones computer, I can't see them wanting just their steam account. I'd go with credit card numbers, bank information, etc.)
Don't buy any game from Valve ever again, now they have even more advantage or banning you because they will always say there are cheats or trojans on your computer, that you didn't reformat your computer well, didn't took good enough security measures and blah blah blah... they have their heads up their ***es they don't care about one customer becuase they have about 2 million and think that by squashing one ant they won't be loosing anything, in fact they even make the other ants eat the corpses of the ants they squash, just look at the VAC forums, some might cheat but there are others get run over in the process and they don't care, they think that by making ****ing great games they don't need to care about anything, and say that VAC is perfect, and don't come to me with VAC1 was the one that made mistakes, so what? They realese the new one and suddently no more false positives? Yah right! Trust me man this is all a no good for nothing scam. And apparently also, it seems that the most that get banned are foreigners! So that they're precious canibalistic, blinded ants can call them idiots for sometimes using bad grammer. I'm sick of this, I want a God dammed insurgency. WE SHALL OVERCOME THE TIRANNY!!!... eventually...
Ok... now that everyone in this forum might hate me, just boycote Valve like me, but don't buy any, I mean ANYthing from Valve, don't even download free games from steam and just ignore everything that has Valve or Steam in it's name, and I mean EVERYthing.

Yeah, they are evil. They should make an RPG game where you are a roaming party of pc gamers with swords and you are trying to defeat the evil Steam company. The only problem is that it'd probably only be available on Steam.

someone's been watching a little too much tv. this is a game distributation company, not a government. and posting something like that here isnt going to do anything other than waste a few minutes of the lives of anyone who reads it.
its worth to read it for me,and i wont buy another Valve game ever again, cuz they should be able to un-ban someone that dosnt even deserve being bannedepapep
well thats your choice. too bad cause valve makes amazing games, and ive never had any trouble with steam ever since it came out. you really should have virus/spyware protection on your computer if you have the internet, because cyber-crime runs rampant these days.
