I'm torn between these two Razer products:

Razer Deathadder- $59.99

Razer Deathadder

Razer Imperator- $79.99

Razer Imperator

Think the imperator is worth the extra cash or should I stick with the Deathadder? Any advice?

Out of those two I would get the imperator. More buttons means more options, and more tools at your quick disposal. If you like RPGs at all I would recommend you look at the Razer Naga as well.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. I have seen the Naga before but it doesn't look like something I will need. It's just a little too clunky looking and I'm not really into power MMORPG playing. My only think about the Imperator I'm worried I may not like is the thumb buttons on the side are a little smallish, and since they slide I am worried they may slip, rendering them tricky and unreliable... But I may just be crazy.

Well the Naga isnt clunky at all. It does take a little getting used to however. I wouldnt really say its for power MMO playing, its more for convenience to have the whole number bar at your disposal at a moments notice, without having to look at your keyboard or take the extra couple of seconds to scroll to the hotbar on screen and click it. Doesnt sound like much, but its a huge advantage in just about any RPG. Even for FPS, it enables you to pick the right gun for the situation at a moments notice. Guess the best way I can put it, is its kinda like being the fastest gun in the west.

Why spend so much on a mouse? The first one isnt too bad, the second one seems too expensive imo..unless your not bothered about spending that much on a mouse :). I would take a look at a wider range if i were you, logitech are decent too. I have an mx518, one of the best mouses ever made, lots of pro's use it still.

I agree. Too much money to spend on a mouse (you can get an extra 2 Gb of RAM for those prices). I use an off the rack Microsoft 3-button optical mouse and have never been disappointed. Unless you plan to enter gaming tournaments and need the lightning fast response you can get a very reliable mouse for about half that price.

Not trying to brag or anything, my mouse isnt the greatest but it has buttons that enable u to switch dpi on the fly, so say your in an fps game and u switch from assault rifle to sniper and need to lower it then u just push a button on the mouse (there are 2 for higher/lower dpi). Its also not that much money, about £15 new i think. Its responsive, light and looks good, what else do u need?

Also imo razer is a rip off with a lot of their products. For instance, why spend so much on a mouse that has say 2600 dpi when u only need around 1600 max

With that logic, why buy an expensive car when you can ride a bicycle? Why get a bulldozer when a shovel can eventually get the job done? Why buy an expensive house when you can live in a tent?

Seriously, people that buy gaming mice buy them for luxury, and so the mouse can do very specific functions. For example, I bought my Naga because I want to have access to the entire number bar with my thumb. That is the convenience I paid for. And yes, it was very worth it. You get a mouse like a sidewinder, in addition to DPI switching on the fly and extra thumb buttons, you get the ability to hit macros on your mouse.

If you never use these features, then dont buy a gaming mouse. Just like if you never leave town, dont buy a car, ride your bike.

Lol what the hell? Ur telling me i need specific features for my type of gaming? I mainly play fps games, but even when i used to play rpg games it was fine. In fact a standard mouse is usually fine. Why on earth would most people want a num pad on their mouse? Isnt that where the keyboard comes in? Did u not know the mx518 was voted best mouse by PRO gamers? Hmmmmmm...

Out of those 2....... I would buy a G5 and a Steelseries Pad.

I used 518's for years and when my last one broke i tried a half dozen Razer products and none of them felt right. I really wanted the extra buttons so it was hard to sacrifice those for the feel i was use to. I ended up with a G5 which is the same form factor as the 518's.

Ive honestly been using the same shape mouse for so long now i probably couldnt play with something else if i was being held at gunpoint. I highly reccomend going into a store to grope the razer products before buying them. They arent even half as comfortable as they are stylish and feature rich.

Like I said, thats not a feature you want, so you didnt buy the same mouse I did. What is so hard to understand about that?

And just because a few pro gamers use one certain type of mouse, well that doesnt mean that is the mouse for everyone. That is why options exist.

I would rather go with a Logitech G500. The mouse is for gaming, cost cheaper and has more buttons.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings earlier. But nice attempt at trying to subvert my statements on gaming mice and getting one that has the features you want.

I would agree. I had a death adder, but it has been giving me some problems (dreaded double click) and I switched to the G500 and I feel that it is superior to the death adder any almost every way after using it for a couple weeks. I got mine for $40 with Best Buy a couple weeks ago, and Amazon was also matching it, but the time has past.

I'm starting to think on the same level you guys are. I think the Razer series are too expensive and I haven't been able to handle one myself. I have an MX510 that I use at the office when I work, but my only complaint about it is it looks kind of dorky. (Not a fan of the weird texture thing they have going on) I like the positioning of the buttons on both the Razer mice I listed, but besides the fact that I think they look pretty there isn't really anything else to justify the premium.

Yeh thats basically what i was trying to say, i mean they look a lot cooler, but who stares at their mice when using a computer?? Also like i said u dont need a ridiculously high dpi (which can be the main reason people buy expensive mice). I use mine on about 1600 dpi i think, anymore and its too sensitive. Its up to you really, i mean yeah if u want like the dude above, spend another £30 or more on a mouse that has a keyboard built on to it!

I went ahead and just bought the Logitech MX518. I had a bit of extra money on my gift card so I also picked up Resident Evil 5 for the 360. (It dropped to $20 today) I'm excited. :D
