Unless there is an amazing deal for something else I always go Samsung for TV's/Montiors. Also Dell are meant to be VERY good monitors.

I would reccomend getting an Asus VH232H monitor. It is a good monitor because it's base res is 1920X1080 and it has HDMI with integrated audio so you can plug a set-top box or a console and it also has inbuilt speakers with audio jacks. Its pretty cheap aswell.

Dell U2410 24"

It does cost a fair bit, but you don't buy a monitor everyday.

Out of all those I would Either get the Dell or the Samsung LED one. I really loathe monitors that are 1080p.... Monitors are meant to be 16:10!

The difference is pretty huge. For me, I wouldn't play on anything lower than 1920x1200.

The Very Least I could ever play these days is 1600x1200 . 1900x1080 doesnt seem to Match my Screen right? Streches kinda funny..? But 1900.1200 is most preferrable by Far . .

I have the Same Tech. Panel monitor as well - looks fine to me.. What do u mean by Good Luck ? Are u saying that its no good ? My monitor is a Hanns-G , 27.5" and Ive had it for around 2 years and paid $350.00 new for it. No dead Pixels, colors are bright and vibrant. No noticible lines or image faults at all...Nothing at all wrong with a TN panel . .

OP requests a suggestion for a monitor with a 1920x1200 resolution. Most of the replies are of 1080p monitors. /sigh

I think the one the OP has settled on is an ASUS 25.5 1900x1200 . So he's covered :)

I'm saying a TN panel is ok, once you see an IPS panel, you will notice the difference. Dell may sound bad, but I can't say 1 bad thing about their monitors, they are just brilliant.

I agree there is a difference when referring to Quality - - But at the Same time , When I look at my $350 monitor - and Look at my Bros Samsung $1100 monitor , from the Looks alone - I dont see enough difference to justify the cost?

Just 3 inputs, with 2 being HDMI? Thats not enough for people, well not for me anyway, not sure about TC, but its not worth it, just my opinion.

3 inputs not enough!? lol it's a computer monitor, not a TV (though, admittedly, the line between the two is indeed shrinking). For $300 you've got to admit it is a slick deal. You'd be hard pressed to find a 1080p LCD tv of that size for that price.

My Panasonic Plasma HDTV is IPS. I am using the very same monitor I recommended in that link and I dont see what the fuss is about with IPS panels. Sure, the quality is better. But for a PC monitor at 1920x1200 res, of this size, price, and quality.. it's a fine purchase.

The Hanns G above is very nice as well. Larger size too, and cost just a tad bit more.

My 3yr old BenQ FP 241W which at the time was $700 AUD, has D-SUB, DVI-D, S-Video, Composite, Component and HDMI.

If a 3yr old monitor has twice the number of inputs thannewer monitors whilst still being IPS, something is just wrong.

The vast majority of monitors being made now support 1900x1080, and not 1900x1200. I was just looking into this recently for a new monitors, and atleast in the UK, easily over 90% of the monitors available at 1900x resolutions were for 1080p and not x1200. Having just bought a 1080p monitor to replace my pair of 1280x1024 monitors I have no issues at all with having 1080 on the vertical, my main issue is being reduced from 2560 to only 1900 on the horizontal. Sure Windows 7 has the snap feature, but since most websites are designed to be viewed in wider than 950 pixels it doesn't work brilliantly in half panes.

IPS In Plane Switching

That's the reason why it's so expensive. Not really needed for gaming, just stick to a good TN panel. Sure IPS has better contrast and color reproduction, but the response times aren't as great as TN panels, and they are much more expensive.

HP ZR24W

I Just picked this up not too long ago. I love this monitor. It's an IPS and it's night and day different from my old TN panel. If $399 isn't out of your price range it's well worth it. I'll never go back to a TN panel again.
