Need a new gaming headset as my old ones broke on me. I will probably end up doing an RMA(The fun of hutning down a reciept!) on these but I still had a couple issues with them that makes me want to get a new pair. This is my current headset : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826153002

The major issues I had with the headset (well other than the fact it BROKE on me) was:

1) The mic was garbage from the start. I was using my external speakers and a cheap $20 USB headset/mic and when I got this headset/mic they instantly complained about a major drop in voice quality. I told them to deal with it. When these broke I immedietely went back to my old set up and they were instantly amazed about how much crisper and clearer I was.

2) After about a 30 minutes or so they started to become very uncomfortable. After 2 hours they plain just started to hurt. (I have glasses)

3) The cord is like 20 feet long. The volume control switch is in the middle. Cords don't like me (they will always find a way to tangle me up)

So now I ask for you to suggest to me a good quality headset that meets these standards.1) Budget is around $100.

2) I play a lot of FPS so 5.1 surround sound is a must (this is where my old headset really shined)

3) Mic must be of good quality.

4) Must remain comfortable during extended use.

5) Must be durable.

I really don't care if it uses a Sound Card or USB. I also really don't care how geeky or dorky it looks.

I'm getting this headset for Christmashttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826158051. Not sure if it has 5.1 surround sound, but it sure is nice and has very good ratings. Most reviewers say it has real good sound quality, is comfortable even during extended use etc. If that one isn't one you would want to consider, this headset is REALLY nice, but 59 dollars above your budgethttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826235005. It really depends on the user when concerning the comfortableness (a word?) of a headset during long use.

Meh, meh, meh...

Look at this:

SteelSeries Siberia (Previously Icemat Siberia) is a very nice gaming headset. I used i for years, one of the most comfortable and high quality headsets I have ever used. When I bought it it was $80, now look at the price!

Sam-Fisher got the one I think will be the best choice (Tritton AX Pro) this headset can be use for PC, XBOX360 and PS3 if you have many platforms and I looked for reviews and they are awesome.

By the way, like you, I was looking for good PC 5,1 gaming headset for the last 3 months and I found this one to be probably the best on the market right now...I will order one soon
