well i was initially going of the dell ultrasharp 30" so you could say there isnt much of a budget
GTR12
The only other monitor at that price is professional monitors, so....

No if you have that much money then go for a professional monitor with an A-TW polarizer, who the hell wants to spend that much money and still not get a uniform picture??I am not exactly sure which monitors have that so other's will have to assist you in that.

Well can anyone nudge me in the right direction?
Last I knew the Dell UltraSharp U2711 was still pretty much the gold standard in consumer monitors. This is outside my realm of expertise, but it comes up frequently, and while there might be slightly better monitors out there, you'd be hard-pressed to find any complaints about the U2711.
The 30" version is the U3011.
Good luck, whatever you buy!

There are MANY complaints about it just go to hardforum. And I know first hand those complaints are legit as it is about the IPS glow thing which my monitor has as well. It is basically ridiculous amounts of backlight bleed when you sit too close to the monitor, yes it's not actually backlight bleed since it's dependant on viewing angle. The saddest part is that it is most visible when sitting at the "optimum angle". :?
I couldnt "bear" playing fear with the monitor right in my head and had to distance myself from it a bit.
It depends on how nitpicky you are I guess. If you for example dont find much wrong with a TN monitor then it may not matter to you. I dont mind 60Hz or grey blacks as much as this but still IPS without the A-TW polarizer is the best I can afford so I have to live with it, you obviously can afford better things.
People have misconceptions about IPS to be honest, it isnt as perfect as people think, only the ones with the A-TW polarizer which cost so much you may as well get a plasma. Or I guess those who jump from a TN to IPS wont notice it's significant shortcomings. I must say that during my research of IPS I really didnt come up with the tinting issue as much to have actually taken it seriously which goes to show either lack of knowledge or lack of PQ standards.

Well, the only reason i could afford it is because of 1 month of full on studying for my exams, or else i wouldve been stuck with a 100$ 19" monitor, so when i got the marks that left my parents surprised and shocked i told myself im going for the best of the best.
i am telling you this to let you know that my situation is probably in no way better than yours :)

That means you can only get something once and dont have the financial flexibility to experiment. In that case do your research well, why dont you get a plasma?[QUOTE="TheUnkownJoker"]

In that case do your research well, why dont you get a plasma?its because they are too big :? if i got the smallest one which is 42" ( from panasonic, because i heard panasonic makes the best plasma) i would have to remove everything from my desk and become shadowed by the tv. i need something 32inches and smaller

Or maybe you can look into a 32" LED TV, not sure what fits into your bugdet and how they compare to the dell overall, you'll have to ask someone more knowledge in TV's.
