Hi guys, my house spans on 4 floors. Basement, ground, first and second. Now I got my current wireless router at the first floor and I can get signal on ground and second and first floor, however no signal on basement. Is there anyway to span the signal over all of the building? My current router is crap though

http://www-in.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=IN%2FLayout&cid=1169671240983&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=4098385430B03 is a good router. then you might just need a second cheaper router to act as a repeater between floors.

Second cheap router? Anyway to do it all in one router? Oh and how strong will the Wireless-G signal be of a Wireless-N router?

I've got a Netgear Rangemax Wireless Cable Router and never had any problems with it. It might set you back a bit but its worth it.

This is the BEST, and most professional way:

Get a wired router(or build your own like a man, I did, google pfsense if you care)

Get 2 wireless switches: and make the second one clone the signal of the first, (Look at the wireless switch and look at access point client for linksys, but this will only work if they are wired on the same lan!, if they aren't set them up as a wireless repeater.)

--------------------- Or just get a wireless router and get a powerful antenna, this might be stronger http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833998041 But you should get a super strong one.

One problem is, I need a chillispot in my house as well. The reason for that being that I have a guest house at my house and I need an proper way for managing the guest's wi-fi reports. So I guess I'll be needing to go with one of Linksys' WRT routers and add a few antennas.

Just get some antenna's, ur current router should have attachments where you can plug them in. If its one specific location a few directional antenna's should solve the problem. Or a high performance omni-directional antenna should solve it.

I want to dump this router as I cannot set-up chillispot on it, .it doesn't even have a firewall....Oh and....if I have a strong Wireless-G connection strength(80%+) can I do online gaming?

Sorry, didn't read that above.

Yeh gaming will be fine, it depends on how many people will be connected at once and if it is a MIMO router. It also depends on ur net connection. Wireless G works at a theoretical 54Mbps speed. I can't really say what 80% signal strength is as all houses/routers/pc's are different.
