Thinking of getting a Dell Inspirion 6400

Specs are:

Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 (1.66ghz)

Home premium

1gb ddr2 SDRAM

256mb NVIDIA Geforce Go 7300 Turbo Cache

Just wanted to know would it run games like Battlefield 2, Hellgate: London, Supreme Commander, GRAW 1&2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Tiberium Wars

Any other laptops with better/similar specs for under $2000 Australian ($1500 US)??

Thanks,

Surfer

OK. mmmmmmmm so you want to play GRAW 2 with that crappy laptop? lol

Laptops are not for gaming, but if you want a descent "gaming laptop" you'll need to spend more than 2000 bucks(M1710)

Yea the Nvidia 7300 series GPU is crap for gaming, for those games you'll want at least a 7900 or ATI equivalent and those will probably run you a good $2000 USD+. Really for the games you listed its going to be hella hard for a laptop to run well, unless it had a native res of like 800x600 but that would be just ass.

I wouldn't buy a laptop for future games. The problem is that some recent games don't even support the mobile GPU's. Rainbow Six Vegas for example, doesn't support the GeForce Go/Mobility Radeon GPUs (according to the box anyway). Future games like GRAW2 (same developer as R6V) might not support it either. Games like Oblivion and FEAR can run of laptops, but for decent performance you'll need a GeForce Go 7600/ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 (or higher). Games like Far Cry and Half Life 2 will probably run OK at low-medium settings on that laptop though.

That wont play the current games, let alone the future ones. 7300 is just not for gaming.
