well most here would recommend the arctic freezer pro 7 for intel cpu's.

personally i use the cooler master 752 for my amd 64 4000+ x2 (oc'ed from 2.1Ghz to 2.8Ghz)

click the picks to see to the links.

edit:

the freezer pro 7 is $32 and the cooler master 752 is $22. also, for maximum cooling, use arctic silver cooling compound.

The Xigmatek S1283 is your best bet. It works best with the aftermarket mounting kit, but that will drive the price up just a tad over $40 on most websites.

The xigmatek Dark Knight S1283 comes with the backplate for $39.99 at newegg.

Either/or, you'll definately see a difference in temperature drop. I spent the extra $ for the Dark Knight, no regrets. ;)

They've had good results for both Intel and AMD CPU's.

It's really dependant on the thermal paste/compound too. OCZ Freeze took me 3 tries to get it right. ;)

From what I was told from a couple "overclockers" forums, most said the DK was the best choice for a Heatsink under $50.

EDIT: Be sure your case will fit it if you plan on getting a Heatsink like this.

How about this one:

ASUS Triton 70 CPU Fan

I purchased this cooler for a Core2Duo CPU, and it works just fine. I was impressed with the cooling ability; it's currently cooling the CPU to 29 degrees Celsius at idle, haven't tested at full load just yet.
