I'm just going on a little rant here as to why I think this game is TERRIBLE. Granted I only raced ONCE, but I thought that this game would be so much better. Here are reasons why this game utterly sucks.

  • My name is my EA account. I do not want to tie anything with a stupid EA account.
  • Graphics look like a PS2 game.
  • Shoddy performance.
  • Graphical artifacts.
  • No anti-alaising
  • Handling not faithfull to older hot pursuit games, feels very dumbed down and not fun to play at all.
  • Stupid unskippable voice overs.
  • Any attempt at a story... this is an exaggerated racing game I don't want to see ANY lame explaination for this.
  • Rear view mirror's graphics are N64 quality.
  • No manual transmission (this is when I exited the game after one race and vowed not to play it).

So how can anyone like this game? I thought it would be good and I was accepting all these things I hate about it but when I found out there is no manual that's where I drew the line. I felt it was common knowledge that you include manual transmission. Criterion you ruined Hot Pursuit and made it too much like your crappy Burnout series.

/ rant

Does no one feel this way at all?

Dunno where you're coming from champ.. but the graphics are top notch on my system. Also, there is AA now, it was fixed via a patch, get with the times and learn to update your games. I have not encountered any artifacting what so ever.

Game looked great to me, but was only fun on races when you could use your power ups. Straight up racing and time trials were pretty boring.

Champ? Okay.. It automatically updated the game for me, and there is still no AA. Graphics card is 4870 1GB... should be more than enough. Even if the graphics were great it doesn't matter, there is no manual transition which makes me hate Criterion. If you don't understand what it means then imagine if braking and acceleration were handled for you automatically that's what it feels like.

So after all those points. You still hang on to one. I know what MT is like, and yes, I too am a bit upset it's not in the game, but it's not make or break, since it's an arcade racer to being with.. There is most def AA in the game, I force it through the nvidia control panel, it doesnt apply it to the cars in the selection screen, but all the cars in race are 100% AA'd, as well as the road and buildings and what not. The only things I've notice it not apply to are some over head street signs on the freeways in some areas.

I tried forcing it through Catalyst and it doesn't work like that either.

I'm planning to spend like $10 on it :P I'm sure it'll be worth at least that then. How does the graphics compare to Burnout Paradise? I would think that it's better since it's the newer game and I liked the graphics in BP.

Which Hot Pursuit are you playing? The only PC version with graphics like a PS2 game would be NFS III: Hot Pursuit - released in 1998. As far as the one made by Criterion - Shoddy performance could be from using an outdated CPU - which, like the Black Ops port really needed more than a dual-core to run smoothly. Graphical artifacts were never apparent to me - perhaps it's an ati/amd issue that's not there with nvidia. AA - personally I don't use it that much, though I do use a 1080P tv as my monitor. Voices can probably be turned off. Rear view mirror graphics don't really need to be the greatest as most of the time spent racing would be looking at the road ahead. The game is not perfect, but it's not really that bad - perhaps it is one of those games that runs best on nvidia.

So you judge a whole game by one race. Ok. Well, your only valid complaints are the no AA, unskippable cut scenes, and no manual.

Anyone with eyes can see that this looks better than this.

Well just the overall feel and look of it felt really dated to me. My other points are definitely valid as well. I can't enjoy a game where I can't work towards a good record because my name is really stupid and I can't change it. It's another game that uses it's own friends list type deal, clearly made with Xbox and Playstation in mind where you have that already build in. It's amazing how much they dumbed it down.. simply amazing. Handling is a joke and there's nothing difficult about it at all. Everything is wide open, too. No challenge here. I don't think voices can be turned off. Well at least not the tutorial type ones. When I load the game, I do not want someone talking slowly to me, explaining all the features as if I were two years old. I wouldn't care if I could skip it though. And my PC should be good enough: Phenom II X4 3.6Ghz, HD 4870, 4GB RAM.

Then it's quite possible it was fixed with a new nvidia driver. Which I would agree with you, blows. Too bad a lot of games do that crap...
