Me and a friend are looking for a good LANable rpg to play together, i would prefer newer graphics. Please let me know your suggestions.Menelyagor
I guess you have tried Neverwinter Nights or Neverwinter Nights 2. If you haven´t, try it! The game has a very good editor there you can make your very own world or adventure...
Modern RPG's aren't as good as older ones. Not because I'm an oldschool nut (which I am), but because they're all jumping on the graphics matter bandwagon, and abandoning roleplaying philosophies pioneered by developers such as Interplay and Origin.
Best recent multiplayer rpg: Neverwinter Nights. Ignore the official campaign. Go either for the premium modules or Hordes of the Underdark, or check the vault for something special.
Whoever would be silly enough to say World of Warcraft sucks, knows little of RPGs. Of course, Diablo fans.... Need I say more. Oblivion has no multiplayer. What are you, 14? WoW is a great game, no doubt about it, but alot of THINGs WoW has to improve with. Like content. For example: TBC has the same content as regular WoW, so it's nothing different. Blizzard wants your money now for real. Catching slaves is their bidding and even addictive players is their biggest catch of the day! Once they can get a person hooked, It's over they've got you. I'm looking forward to a real RPG coming out: WAR which will all focus on RVR and PVP. In WAR, a person can gain both exp and loot in PvP. PvP in WoW has sunk to a new low and dumbed down for casuals alike.
I'm sure this will be easier in the second part of the year, when games like Two Worlds and Elveon will be coming out, but right now it's a little difficult concerning newer games.
As far as multiplayer goes, the first NWN was incredible... While I don't think the second is as good as the first... NWN2 is likely still the best recent option for a multiplayer RPG.
If you don't mind MMO's, WoW is the obvious choice, and quite frankly, easily the best MMORPG ever to come out.. ever. Realize, however, that if you start playing it, you will soon find yourself without a social life. It's why I quit. Perhaps getting a bit outdated in the graphics department though, and with LotR MMO coming out, you might want to pick that one, though I don't really know how good it is.

Thanks for all the great suggestions, however:
Diablo series, been there, done that one to many times.
Neverwinter Nights 2, i tried it, and i absolutely HATE the combat system, it doesnt flow with me, and frankly i dont quite understand it, and i figure if i have to try and understand a combat system to play the game, its not worth it.
Titan Quest, was thinking about getting that but he's not to optimistic about that, ill actually try and convince him to get this, dont really see whats wrong with it, i think because its a diablo type game or something.
And ginnia..i did do that, it didnt show very many RPGs, and the ones that it did show were mediocre save a few, or didnt have LAN capabilities. Not to mention this is a PC Games forum, where we talk about, wouldn't ya know it, PC Games.
What would you guys say about Silverfall? So far thats the only RPG thats really caught our interest, however i've read bad things about it. Also, ill check out NWN, unless it has the same combat system as NWN 2?
When it comes down to WoW..i actually just quit...Level 64 hunter, figured its a waste of time..because this expansion didnt add much at all, just a new level cap if you ask me..Because eventually, everyone is going to be wearing epic armor again, awaiting a new expansion, and the grind will continue.
P.S Averynn, im looking for ANY type of RPG that i can play with my buddy through LAN/Online.
The combat system of NwN might be weird because it is based on Dungeons and Dragons. So if you hate DnD, don't buy the game. Same with any Knights of the Old Republic. Basically the same system. You're a hard person to please. I would suggest maybe Guild Wars. It's alot like WoW, but its free (best part), and expansions add new profession to experience with, and tons of new spells. And expansions come out quite often. So the money you would normally use to pay for monthly subscription, you would use to buy expansion packs. NwN, Diablo, and MMORPGs are the only popular types of online RPGs.

After playing most of the games mentioned here, I'd have to agree with Lilac_Benjie. NWN: Hordes of the Underdark is an excellent choice for LAN play; the combat is easier to figure out than NWN2, and the gameplay lends well toward 2-3 people with differing abilities working together. It can save anywhere, and it's very stable. More importantly, it's fun, especially with 2 people.
That, or wait to see how Silverfall turns out.
