Hey all, recently got tired of the barley audible sound that comes out of my standard earbuds. i've had them for a while, and it's not loud enough for when you are on a train or in a car. I recently just threw them out becuase the cord finaly ripped. I need some relatively cheap noise-cancelling headphones. Note i dont want to spend 250$ for beats that suck. Any suggestions would be appreciated!:D

Do you want proper headphones or in ear headphones/earbuds?

Do you want noise cancelling or noise isolating?

-2 While that would be a great set up, for travelling they will be terrible. He would be better off with some OK in ear monitors. I travel on the bus everyday, and looking for audiophile sound is a waste of time as the noise around you is so loud. I personally have some Shure SE215, and they work pretty well with isolating sound and sound decent. I can listen quite quietly, but there are many alternative in ear phones that are just as good or better for a similar price, that are worth looking into. Very few headphones are able to block out enough sound for them to be practical. Also carrying around them Beyerdynamic with a headphone amp would be a pain in the butt. I can carry my Sansa Clip+ and Shures in my pocket all day and not notice they are there. Personally for travel I think I spent too much on the Shures, if I did it again I wouldn't spend over £30-40, as the surroundings just aren't ideal in the slightest.

I travel with my Denons w/case and the same amp, he's just full of it. They leak a little bit of sound, but it isn't enough to disturb anyone outside of a library.

What Digital Audio Player (DAP) are you using?

You don't need to spend a lot of money. My portable rig: Sansa Clip+ 8GB w/ 32GB microSD, Fiio E6 and Klipsch Image X10. All of that currently on Amazon is around $200.

Do you know what 'portable' means, cos the owner of that clearly doesn't.

On Head-Fi I've seen pictures of bigger setups that they carry around on trains and stuff.

Try this set up. Sennheiser HD558

http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-558-Headphones/dp/B004FEEY9A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1358849193&sr=8-1&keywords=Sennheiser+HD558

And the Fiio E6

http://www.amazon.com/Fiio-E6-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B005HJWWW8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1358849217&sr=8-2&keywords=fiio+e7

If you have a bit of extra cash to splurge, I would upgrade the choice to the Sennheiser HD598

http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Headphones-Accents/dp/B0042A8CW2/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1358849210&sr=1-1&keywords=Sennheiser+HD598

Hope this helps!

see, what i need are some noise cancelling headphones that give out good sound. it'd be best if they had some sort of voulme control, but that would be optional.

i saw the links, and like i said, i dont want to be spending upwards of 200$, i just need some good headphones, not earbuds either.

The quality jump from $200 to $250 is huge.
