Need help building my first PC.

I would like to put together my first computer for my college graduation gift. I have a pretty good knowledge of how to put it together but would like you guys to help me maximize my money so if you wouldn't mind specing one out for me from new egg or something with a cool case. The budget is no more than 1000 US dollars not including the monitor. This needs to include a copy of windows 8 but leave room in the price for keyboard and mouse (you don't have to pick one out for me just leave room in the build to include those for under 1000. I would get an i5 3570K which is $220. A good Z77 motherboard (something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130645 ). This powersupply which will let you run SLI/crossfire http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=17-139-051&Tpk=17-139-051 (corsair, seasonic, antec are all great brands). Ram (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314). Harddrive/case are up to you (both of them combines will be $150-200). Windows 7/8 will run you $90-$100). Video card will most likely be an ATI 7950 3GB boost unless you can wait till early june (the GTX 760 Ti comes out in early June).
