I'm going to university next year, for computer science. I need a laptop, and I was wondering if the MacBook pro would be a good choice. Any input would be appreciated.

Be more specific in "computer science". I am going to assume this is a programming class, but what language? Also, I would recommend you look at the dell 13.3 in vostro range.

Doesn't really matter, since my perents are buying it, and my dad suggested a MacBook pro. Also, were going to be using C/ C++, linux / unix stuff.

Since you are not paying for it you may as well go crazy and get one of the best you can. A good notebook i found was the HP TX2. It is a tablet pc and is perfect for school. I really want one but im wating for the next gen processors for these notebooks.

You'll be a lot smarter at the end of it :), oh and vostro 1320, I would highly suggest you look there. T9500 cpu, 8 gigs of ram, 9300mgs gpu, which is actually better than an 8400mgs, so you can do some light gaming, 9 cell battery. I have the older 1310, and I love it.
