need help choosing a new MMO

i guess i should give my MMO history first: Guild Wars, WoW, Tabula Rasa, SWG, and WAR. also numerous F2P games, but they really can't keep me.

I recently fell out of WAR, because of the emphasis on PvP. Yet i could not get back into WoW (retail or private servers). I was wondering what MMOs were good for PVE that people play and/or are good, solid MMOs. I was thinking about trying out Age of Conan, or even LOTRO but I'm not sure :/

i would say age of conan i love this game. yes it had a bad launch cuz of bugs and performence issues. but now its really starting to shine. the only thing we really need now is a server merge because 1/2 of the servers are empty if its not more. and this will happend before chrismas (thats what funcom says)metal_head_5566

how is the PvE vs PvP content? i'm more of a PvE-er, so balanced--if not more PvE-oriented-- content is key.

i really haven't been following SGW...i know you can play as the main races, and there's some new-ish mechanic with cover, but does it look good? did i miss some important details that are making this game epic? the graphics look a little dated, and warring races means more of a PvP emphasis yes? enlighten me, heh.

This is going to sound very nuts... but maybe you should try the first champion of MMORPGs: Everquest (It was not the first one but it set many standards.) Or you can try it's younger less overall successful, yet better looking and easier to get along with: Everquest 2. Everquest 2 went through a lot of changes and you can solo and play it casually now, and some people have said it has better group content and raids than WoW. Everquest one is still the rip your hair out frustration group only MMO (as far as I know). I want to get back into MMOs but I'm waiting until I can get a job so I can make sure I can balance a job, studying (I want to go into business one day), and a MMO at once (I do NOT want a social life in my messed up little town). But I when I do, I want to try Everquest 2 or Vanguard... NOT WoW.Nerkcon

i actually did try the EQ2 trial...it felt too "WoWish" for me. or maybe WoW is like EQ/EQ2...whatever. but yea, it felt like the same thing i just came from. Though if there's a trial, i might as well try it out again.

funcom needs to put out a trial for AoC so i can settle this easily >_

I think it might be. I know I'm a bit of a fan but it's a good game. Best PvE and has a medium population. New expansion pack is good.
